Karty looked like a deer caught in headlights his entire Rams career. This kid looks confident
Unfortunately I'd have to agree to a certain extent... sometimes this year Karty looked like he wanted to puke when he was lining up to kick. The whole vibe on the field goal unit was off.

Both Mevis and Karty have an NFL quality leg and have shown streaks of consistency. But who can maintain that consistency NOW and in the future?

So much of it is mental. So far, Mevis' body language just looks more confident. The article below can give us hope that Mevis can keep his head screwed on straight.

McVay did say the plan was to bring him back onto the practice squad. They don’t want to flush him, but with the injury situation, they couldn’t justify keeping him on the 53.

Karty may well be the kicker of the future and McVay said as much, but now it’s all roster management and preparation for the end of the season and the playoffs.

Some of ya'll are hysterical with your hand wringing over Karty's release. Some people just gotta be pissy about everything. I wonder what the Rams record is today if they had a competent PK all season...

Karty lost me with that horrible kick where his walk up was so late he kicked it BEHIND the incoming rusher. It's like he froze when the ball was snapped. Not sure I have ever seen that before. Regardless, I think I am starting to understand why @Selassie I feels the way he does about kickers...

Well JOKE or not ???

It was INCREDIBLE.That might have been Karty’s last kick as a NFL player ? Once that happened it was a serious problem all the way through.

IMO watching that I was like WTF !!

My question to you is have you EVER seen Less of an EFFORT-BLOCKING???

You know WE can complain about a lot worse if things were TRUE!!

Freaking MERLIN IMO is a BIG B””

You know I’ll keep it at that & just say the OBVIOUS on ALL this, besides how AWESOME Stafford &Alaric are .Olus can’t wait to see AKELLO BALL OUT w/ E.Forbes !! For all those freaking doubters & complainers.

My point is this, which I actually couldn’t see at training camp or scrimmage. My BIGGEST FEAR is DJ having to play !! Dude has NFL history & was a Pro Bowler.! If he is The Rams LT WE as Ram Fans are in trouble watching them WIN !!

He didn’t block that CB rushing outside & didn’t even make a step out to block him.He was the ONLY player to block. Why he was on the right side made me think WTF does Chase even know about special teams ?? What kind if a coach is he ??

Yes Karty took to many steps & was slow at the point of the SNAP!! Which got exposed. We can see the Thicker Kicker get through it.

YOUR RIGHT!! I’ve never seen a kicker kick behind a rusher!! In fact I thought it was pretty Kool Karty did that.If he went through it with rotation he would have still made the kick imo. Just that whole thing was crazy in its own way.I don’t think we ever saw Karty after that ?? Not sure & talk a lot of Chit!

After all that posting on something maybe not worthy.

What I’ll say The MOST that does get ANY CREDIT!!

My buddy LES !! How AWESOME has he been with scouting & bringing in kickers !!

I’ll say though he is only 1 for 3 drafting a Kicker.

Punters 1 for 1 !! He didn’t do BAD his rookie year signing yet another UDRFA from Oregon State.IMO might been going in the HOF !! If PUNTERS are people ? To think Jones was a Rams mvp guy with how bad they were ?? The kicker Brown was right there as well.Talk about a bad guy & what he did in his personal life that got exposed as a Giant????

Well that is a little history from my crazy AZZ mind. Not sure what is what. . Go RAMS !

Problem is people think Mevis has been through the trials and tribulations Karty has been through. Its unfair in essence, because now if Mevis whiffs an actual down to the wire game then what? He gets a pass?
Maybe I'm wrong, but I have my doubts that a trails and tribulations comparison is being considered.

I think most folks just care about the ball going through the uprights whenever a kicker gets a chance.

If Mevis whiffs in an actual down to the wire game and it's not season ending, I guess he'll get another opportunity to see if it's a continual pattern like Karty, Sloman, Havrisik, Mare, etc.. If it's egregious, competition will be brought in again. It's just the nature of the job.

I like Karty and thought he would be our kicker for a long time. No idea why his timing got completely F'ed this season. One of Mevis field goals from this last game would have been blocked if it was Karty kicking at the same timing he had done all season. There was a video of a Buc getting his hand on Mevis' kick but it still powered through and made it. If that was Karty the Buc player would have had his body in front of it by the time he kicked at his current pace.

Which is part of the problem... why is it so god damn hard for us to block on field goals? I don't get it.

So it looks like Karty cleared waivers. Thats good. They can put him on the practice squad and let him work out the problems. I'd hate to give up on a guy we drafted. For now its Mevis. Could be next year too. We'll see.

One thing I noticed with Mevis's kicks, the ball doesn't seem to have any curve to it. No fade to the right or hook to the left. I've seen a lot of kicks that had some hook or slice to it around the league. With some misses because of it.

A guy who can kick 55 plus is nice. But give me the guy you can count on between 40 and 50 yards every time.

I wonder if he's going to be signed to the PS, I know the Rams want him back but does Karty want to return?
