At this point though, superstition is going to have me lobbying them to keep these hideous things on.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

JACKSONVILLE – With the Jaguars playing in their home white uniforms Sunday, it meant the Rams having to go to their mismatched uniforms in which their helmets and pants don’t fit with their blue jerseys. Much like what happened against the Cowboys two weeks ago, except they swapped out the blue pants with white ones.

Either way, it looks hideous. And the Rams understand as well as anyone. In fact they petitioned the NFL this week to let them wear the same throwback uniforms they wore last week against the Seahawks to avoid the mismatched look.

According to Rams president Kevin Demoff, they held out hope all the way to Wednesday that the league would grant them the waiver. The NFL, though, denied it and so the Rams were back to looking like an orphanage team.

Why is the NFL so resistant?

By rule, each team can wear their throwback uniforms twice a year. The Rams put this year’s game selection to a fan vote, with the Seattle game last week and the Dec. 31 game against the 49ers being selected.

The way the NFL sees it, if the Rams were allowed to wear their throwbacks for three games, what would prevent another team from asking the same?

One alternative would have been the Rams wearing their throwbacks against the Jaguars on Sunday and wearing their regular home uniforms in December against San Francisco.

Demoff, though, felt that would be letting the Rams home fans down.

The Rams, incidentally, will make a permanent uniform change upon moving into their new stadium in Inglewood in 2020.

Wear the throwbacks and pay the fine!

C'mon Demoff, it would be a great PR stunt and make you look like the good guy/rebel against the evil league.

And it would be punk rock.

Just do it!

Makes no sense to me, why the NFL head office wouldn't buy into the money/merchandise sales argument: those jerseys the Rams wore today (and 2 weeks ago in Dallas) are, quite frankly, unmarketable. Everybody knows that color scheme is a lame duck that will be replaced once Stanadu opens in 2020. Therefore, nobody's going to be buying any of those jerseys. They are, for lack of a better term, "dead clothes hanging".

The '99 throwbacks will keep selling, especially if the Rams were to wear them any time they're on the road and the home team chooses to wear white. The NFL made an exception for the 49ers in 1994, to allow them to wear their throwbacks as their official uniform. But back then, Roger Goodell wasn't in charge.

So are they able to get the masking tape helmets back next year and just keep them til 2020? But hell, if they keep winning in this shit, fuck it.

I just don't understand why they didn't alter the home jerseys? They changed the away ones a little bit... changed the pants and the stripes and obviously changed the helmet color. They can do the jerseys any combo they want as long as the pattern stays the same mostly and the color scheme stays gold, dark blue, and white. Sooooooooo, why didn't they foresee this problem and alter them like they did the away? MAybe make the numbers solid white with gold trim instead? And white on the sleeves instead of gold? It makes no sense other than someone just didn't think it through.

C'mon NFL ... just let the Rams do this: On the jersey's they wore today, let them swap the white and the gold ... instead of gold #'s with white trim, let us have white numbers with gold trim. Problem solved.
