People who are underwhelmed by this signing think left tackles are just floating out there to be signed willy nilly? Same with guards, I view this as a lucky grab at this time of year... a vet that has been solid when needed. Can't ask for anything more from the waiver or practice squad wire during the season.

I'd also like to reiterate how the one good thing to come out of this pandemic mess is the IR and practice squad rules the NFL was forced to make the last handful of seasons. I hope they continue because it is so much better than before.
Exactly.
This is a depth piece with a guy who may be limited.. but will know what he's doing and will have seen everything.
You got him for NOTHING.

Now.. look for some way to improve the interior.. please.

I remember him blowing through town or whatever but in those years I tended to take my breaks when the offense was on the field. :laugh3:
Hopefully he isn’t a Greg Robinson type. The price is a lot cheaper. Was that the same draft he came out

If that’s the best that’s out there, things are grim.
Good tackles are hard to find even in the off-season.
Much less when the season begins and injuries start piling up.

They're just looking at him as a swing tackle at the moment I believe anyway.

Ty Nsekhe is a decent backup OT. He will give the Rams depth as a swing OT. He's a bit long in the tooth but as a backup for one year he could be serviceable. It would buy the Rams time to get Arcuri on track.

With Allen at C this could be a serviceable OL until they get Shelton back. Shelton is a better option than either Edwards or Evans. Both of whom I see gone next year.

Nice post,

Shelton ? It will play itself out

He’s not signed to play. He’s signed as an emergency backup guy in case of more injuries. As such, good get for the cost. Everyone hopes that he never steps in the field for even one offensive play.

I remember Nsekhe. I was always intrgued by his size. He is a big man at 6-8 and over 325 lbs. For a swing tackle I think it could be a pretty good pickup this time of year considering they did not have to use any draft capital.

Another thing to note. He was with the Redskins in 2015 & 2016 when McVay was the OC. He was the swing tackle for them in 2015, getting two starts at left tackle and some playing time at right tackle. He was the Redskins swing tackle again in 2016 and even started four games at left tackle in place of the suspended Trent Williams.

To make room for Ty Nsekhe the Rams released Takk McKinley.
I only noticed McKinley on one play vs Carolina.
He dove inside on a run play giving up contain and MCM picked up a nice gainer, just ran to the space McKinely evacuated.

The only thing I noticed was him almost getting into a fight with a teammate on the sideline.

Ty was one of the many many many offensive lineman I was hoping Fisher's regime could develop out.

Developing offensive lineman wasn't a strong suit for Fisher.

Yet, Ty is still here and Fisher is long gone.

That tells us all we need to know about Jeff Fisher and developing an offensive line period.

Ty Nsekhe will be the Swing OT (LT/RT) reserve today. Matt Skura is also active to back up center Brian Allen. McVay called up elevated Reserve Swing OG Chandler Brewer from the PS for the 4th time.

Jeremiah Kolone resigned to the Practice Squad yesterday joining OT AJ Arcuri. Not sure what happen to Max Pricher?

No recent information has been provided on IR OL'ers Coleman Shelton & David Edwards on any return time.

The active players are just like you predicted.

The big question is are they really going to start Evans at Right Guard?

I would rather they start Skura at Right Guard but that could leave us short at the Center back up.
