UDFA Abdul Beecham has 35 inch arms know as being a outstanding pass blocking with good movement skills @ left OG...his run blocking not so good. Primarily a LG but does swing & play OT in an emergency but never center.

This late addition of a OG might indicate some concerns ongoing @ OG or like @OldSchool said just practice fodder?

What has happened thus far here just before regular season starts @ the OG position?

#1- 2nd season OG Jamil Demby- Failure to produce on the field.(n)
#2- 2nd season interior OL'er Aaron Neary- Injured & Suspended:cry:
#3- 2nd season Jeremiah Kolone- this OG was moved to be the reserve OC. :cautious:
#4- Rookie Bobby Evans- unimpressive & underachieved @ OG.
#4- Rookie David Edwards- demonstrated excellent play @ Swing OT. (y):D
#5- UDFA Chandler Brewer-demonstrated solid play & great versatility @ four OL posts.(y):)
#6- UDFA Vitas Hrynkiewicz- Has been hidden & very limited exposure in preseason. Did play good very late 4th quarter last Saturday @ RG!(y)

I would guess Brandon Hitner & Matt Kaskey are not NFL caliber prospects @ OG's ?

I think Edwards, Evans, and Brewer make it. Neary probably goes to IR or pup depending on how long he'll be out.

Would that make starting RG Austin Blythe the top reserve Center until Neary gets health after the bye? I have no issues with your suggested plan & I am leaning this direction myself.

I think that OC/OG Jeremiah Kolone will not be a hot commodity for other NFL teams after the final cut, whereas OT/OG Chandler Brewer would not last very long in WWC land. If our center was unable to go the task of center would fall on Blythe & the RG post would be worked either by David Edwards or Chandler Brewer. Most likely Brewer.

I think they are cross training Brewer as well right? As of right now i think you're right, Blythe just slides over if Allen goes down. Which I'm good with because I think Blythe is a better C than G. Lets just pray that our Oline stays healthy throughout the year.

Of course this would be very agreeable to our members who are strong only 8 OL'ers to end up on the 53 Master Roster.

For other members who think 9 (nine) OL'ers is a more sound approach might be different. I tend to lean in this direction myself. I am hoping to see a serious full 4 quarters of Vitas Hrynkiewicz working the three interior posts but mostly RG & OC. I would also like to see the same HD action by Matt Kaskey working the LT/LG posts. Give Brandon Hitner some reps @ center too.

I believe that OC/OG Vitas Hrynkiewicz & OG/OC Jeremiah Kolone would be good Practice Squad team players to round out the 10 (ten) Ram OL'ers if we go with only three reserves.

I see this as a replacement for Demby, who has been getting his ass handed to him in preseason. More depth is best. Im not worried about the starters, personally.

So you think the new guy gets Demby's spot on the roster after being a Ram for just about 24 hours?

I'm thinking he may have been brought in to play some LT in order to give Edwards & Demby more opportunities elsewhere, or perhaps Edwards gets rested for the entire game to avoid injury. jmo.

No, but i dont think they keep Demby, which leaves an oline spot open. Its not like Demby was going to see any playing time anyway.

With Beecham and Brewer they have a potential RG and a potential backup center. The Rams are smart in drafting a year ahead because they understand the time it takes to develop 0-line. They started Demby at LG in the last game. He did okay with no major gaffs. Then they moved him to RG and again he was okay. The moved him a third time to LT and he had one missed block I believe. But again when you move him from RG to LT he's got to think about what he's doing because not only is it a different side but also a different technique. I'm sorry but there isn't a young lineman who wouldn't struggle if moved around like that during the same game. So for fans and media to judge him harshly is off because it isn't in context.

The fact they are doing it lends credence to how much they like him and are trying to get as many snaps for him at all the positions they can during the preseason. Why would they waste time with him if they weren't getting him ready for the season? So yeah I think he makes the team. Edwards probably makes the team but is inactive each week so they can protect him from poachers. He will be a different player next year.

With the pick up of Beechum, its apparent Snead and McVay are always looking to upgrade the bottom of the roster. Also apparent they think the OL can be upgraded. I'm sure before they signed Beechum they had a conversation with OL coach Kromer and given his OK all of them are not quite satisfied with what they have. I like the signing. Beechum has a real opertunity the get a roster spot, won't be to hard to beat some of those guys out.

I remember reading; and maybe you posted it, that he started out as a center and then transitioned to guard. Worrying about having Blythe as the primary backup at center is some first world stuff.

Possible practice squad guy, at least to start the season.
