I remember hearing that Fisher threw an F bomb in the draft room when the Seahawks got him first. He's probably the most hated man in Seattle now, lmao
Pete and John might push him for that tbh

I’m at least a little surprised.
Please don’t misread this… I trust they know what they’re doing.

I’m confused because it shows a shift in what they’ve prioritized. They just haven’t spent for that position in recent years and even won a Super Bowl.
I feel like paying more for Von would’ve made more of a difference. BUT.. the Rams have shown they will find an edge rusher when they need one, so I’ll have faith.
I’m a little concerned about his age… but I can definitely be talked into him and Jones doing some real damage. Looking forward to seeing how they make it work.

Maybe they are predicting big things for the guy in your avatar ;)

Not going to lie, I would've rather had Von because Edge is so important to this defense. BUT, once we lost him the remaining OLB options are pretty average and declining compared to Von. We could've spend a lot on an aging CB who is declining as well. Instead we decided to add the BPA, kind of like during a draft when the player you want gets selected, you can reach for the same position or pivot to the next best player. Yes Wagner does not play edge but he's truly the best ILB we've had in 15 years and maybe ever.

Playing behind AD, Gaines, and A'Shawn will allow him to roam and make a ton of plays. We will tweak our scheme accordingly because Ernest Jones needs to be on the field too. We can also blitz Jones on passing downs from the edge or inside as he was very good at rushing the passer last year for a rookie ILB. I still think we sign a veteran OLB/CB as well but this was a big signing for us after Von leaving.

I would imagine this signing has an impact on guys who are still free agents. Sure there's less money available. But today, for those guys who value winning most, the Rams have to be looking even more attractive than yesterday.

Fisher knew defensive talent. He had us playing nasty from the first day he got here.

Did you watch how many times our defense missed tackles in the regular season? Especially early and during out losing streak? Your hero Morris actually had the defense in a good position many times, by keeping the play in front of them, but the other team would turn a 5 yard play into a 30 yard play because of the missed tackles. Wagner won't miss those tackles. 170 last year alone.

If the Rams can avoid serious injuries, sign OBJ, and solidify the DB weaknesses, this team has a solid chance at running it back to back, to back.

I still think we need to wait to see the complete picture. Wagz was signed before we did other contracts. Regardless once doing Coops and AD and if they have anyone else in mind I think if it's a free agent or two it will become clearer trade etc..

What I like though is now you don't need a von type super duper edge.

If you stick with Hollins and lewis and draft and add a top notch corner Howard or Gilmore your better in my opinion.

If you go edge like Clowney and a cheaper corner like Callahan or load up on corners in the draft your even better on all levels.

You trade for hunter or someone of that caliber you could put a tackle dummy at other corner spot and it wouldn't matter.

I also think a cheaper option than Gilmore or Howard which allows you to still ad an edge is Bradbury.

There are so many ways to go. The anticipation kills me and I can't wait for the season dude!!

FA ILB Bobby Wagner is one of the most interesting NFL free agent signings in 2022.

Wagner has been scrutinized and recently labeled as still a solid ILB, but over the hill and be careful how you value him.

Is he a scheme fit for the Rams?

Total tackles have merit, but solo tackles have a little more weight by a lot of NFL fans opinions.

Top 10 Total Tackles 2021 Season

I'm trusting the Rams Defensive staff watched every single snap of Wagner over the last 2 seasons on the All 22 film sessions and came to the conclusion he was clearly worth offering the contract he signed for.

I was a bit surprised to see fellow Seattle LB Jordyn Brooks had better stats than Wagnor, but without studying every single snap from the Seahawks last season, who's to say that Wagner wasn't the reason Jordyn Brooks accumulated all the tackles he knotched?

Very glad to have you aboard the 2022 Rams Mr. Wagner.

Our defensive staff believed your film review proved you were worthy of the contract offered.

I'm sitting at home here in Florida smiling that you will be adding to your HOF career tackle totals as a Ram in 2022.

It's pretty simple guys. He'll take over Reeder's job but do it way better. He's good enough against the pass and great against the run.

We're definitely better vs the run. We'll see how deep his roles go and all that. I presume he'll call the defense and be on the field 3 downs at that cost but you know what... Ernest Jones might give him a run for it in camp.

There may be some teams that they can line up two ILBs vs but for the most part it's gonna be one guy who stays on the field.

Yea in those instances I think in known pass situations we will move Ernest Jones around and allow him to pass rush. Either from inside or off the edge. He's one of our most physical and fluid athletes and I think we'll see more packages where he rushes. He was very impressive on blitzes last year and didn't do it a lot. Wagz is going to be better in coverage so just my guess we utilize Ernest like a poor mans Micah Parsons at times to pass rush.

If they're paying BW 65M, there's no way he can lose the starting job to E Jones... right?

Just kinda concerned that the Rams are gonna have an excellent young ascending player (Jones) who might not see the field as much as we'd want him to.

And yeah, right now I'm not too amped about OLB opposite Floyd. Lewis, Hollins, Garrett... any of those 3 are a huge downgrade from Von.

Like everyone else, I'm pumped for the BW signing, just concerned about the "Plan B" after losing Von.

Look up ‘NFL Team Rebuild’ in the dictionary and there will be a screen shot of the 2022 Squawks roster. Or a picture of Carroll in a team room sipping on an Ensure playing a game of computer solitaire projected on the big screen.

Yea we'll be a lot better vs the run for sure. I agree I think we still add a OLB and CB but doubt it will be one of the big names. Hopefully I'm wrong but I bet we go for bargain type guys. I'd rather spend on edge though because I dont trust Lewis at all and I think Hollins is just average at best. There are still some quality vet edge guys that would make a huge difference for us. What if losing out on Von ends up being a blessing in disguise and we actually sign a decent edge and CB still. Wouldn't that be nuts.
