I got a revelation for you guys. There is no team in the NFL that could have survived this many injuries to starters. Go ahead and name one team with enough depth to survive all these injuries. Yet you blame Snead? Dudes, get a grip. Now we get to look at players that rarely get snaps and see who can play and who can't.
Time to shut Ramsey down as well. Play Rochell and Durant as your boundary CBs. Shut down Scott and play Lake and Yeast to see if they can play. In other words, nothing shows where improvement is needed like actual gameplay.
Most of all McVay should be looking for a new DC. McVay talks about how mediocrity isn't good enough....that should apply to his staff. Raheem has done less with more. McVay knows it and is why he shamelessly promoted Morris as a HC candidate. I'm sure he's getting heat from Snead and Kroenke. HIs playing guys out of position and not to their strengths is testimony to his poor judgment and talent evaluation. Staley for all his faults did more with less. Sean needs to tell Morris to can his base prevent and be more aggressive for as long as he's with the Rams or he won't be much longer.
McVay needs to use the rest of this season as an extended preseason for setting up next year's team. They found a future starter in Jackson, who is everything they hoped Arcuri would be but so far isn't. They have a decent center in Shelton, the question is whether Noteboom can return to form after an Achilles tear. Some players can't. Assuming he can return to form then they have the makings of a decent OL with Noteboom, Jackson, Shelton, and Bruss. Aboushi isn't a good OG but could be a serviceable backup option. Thomas could be a diamond in the rough so they should play him at LG or as a swing OT for the rest of the year. They could have a decent backup center in Anchrum as well next year. The cupboard isn't exactly bereft of talent.
Look around the league. Few teams have solid depth on their OL. Once the key possible starters heal the Rams do in fact have the makings of a decent starting group next year.
Of the WRs Skowronek is simply a short zone possession receiver. Harris and Powell have potential they simply need experience and work. They need to throw Tutu into the deep end of the pool and see if he can swim. Is Tutu a mirage or for real? Now is the time to find out. Sit Jefferson and let him continue to heal. Go with Skowronek, Powell, Tutu and Harris as the core WRs. Work McCutcheon in after he heals.
They need to take a long look at Hardy because after this season they have a decision to make about Leonard Floyd as his cap hit jumps from $8M to $22M next year. IMO he's getting a bad rap this year because of the stupid base prevent scheme that Morris plays. When AD doesn't have time to get to the QB then you know the fucking D scheme is shit and Floyd isn't going to have time as well.
IMO 2023 preseason starts now.
