Becton is not happy with the Jets he ONLY wants to play LT. Salah told him he needs to earn it. Duane Brown took over for MB after he got hurt. He has been hurt for 2 years. He started at LT his first season for 13 games until he got hurt.

He used to weigh over 400 lbs he lost 50+ this off-season. The Jets declined his 5th year option. He could be a cheap get because of the distraction he may cause. He is currently very unhappy. LaFleur knows him and I feel he solves our LT spot way better than Acuri Jackson or Noteboom. Gives us a year to gel the OL and makes the main priority the defense not to mention keeping Stafford upright. All indications he looks really good in camp. My guess we could get him cheap and we all know LTs cost a fortune normally and are very rarely available.

LaFleur having inside knowledge of Becton might mean they don't touch him with a ten foot pole. :laugh2:

We don't know that. Clearly LaFleur knows him. He was the 11th pick in the 2020 draft and he started instantly and was great. He is in better shape and super hungry. Remember what Cleveland thought of Corbett the 33rd pick in the draft - said he was a total bust.

What I do know is Notebook is not good enough he has had 5 years to prove it and last year when fully healthy he sucked royally. AJ was ok but got blood clots something one can't screw around with you can die from them. Now you can argue AJ was in the storm of all the injuries and that could have affected his play but still ...

Noteboom contract would probably screw us this year unless Becton wanted to sign cheap with a strong opportunity to win LT position for more lucrative contact. Another option could but be a trade deadline if he is still available. I think it’s worth a try since AJax is not likely the permanent LT we need.

The Dream Police that live inside of my head say:

LT Becton
LG Ajax
OC Avilla
RG Bruss/Anchrum
RT Hav.

FWIW Becton has proven to be as durable as Noteboom. And the Jets are not trading him.

Why replace a LT that constantly gets hurt with a LT that hasn't played for 2 years because of injuries? what am I missing?

My thoughts exactly, fuck no. I’d rather wait till draft and trade up for a premium LT.

Looking good on the sidelines doing individual workouts is probably nice, but it seems he's not practicing yet.

Becton is not participating in OTA practices right now as he recovers from the season-ending knee injury he suffered in training camp last year.

We don't know that.
Thus the usage of the word "might."

I don't profess to know either way. Just pointing out that knowing him might mean either possibility, good or bad.

I live in NYC and have not read or heard a thing about trading Becton.
He is clear he won't play RT and has talked about being traded. I think the distraction will get him traded especially if Brown wins the job.

Understood and that is the risk, but if they will take on most of his salary and they already declined his 5th year perfect scenario for the Rams again if he is healthy and not declined. Btw OBJ had 2 knee surgeries and got a big deal and he is 6+ years older than MB.

He played at over 400 lbs now he has dropped over 50 lbs that surely got the help.

That’s what his specialists told him—that his knee injuries were due to too much weight. Slimming down will supposedly help.

Becton won’t happen but I want the Rams to find a stud LT by 2024. Becton is a local kid who I’ve followed. If he could get healthy he could have a high ceiling (think Saffold).
