I became a Rams fan in 1971. At that time Willie Ellison was the star RB. Since then the Rams have arguably the best run of RBs in the history of the NFL:
-Willie Ellison ‘67-‘72
-Lawrence McCutheon ‘72-‘79
-Cullen Bryant/Wendell Tyler ‘73-‘82
-Eric Dickerson ‘82-‘87
-Charles White/Cleveland Gary ‘85-‘93
-Jerome Bettie ‘93-‘95
-Marshall Faulk ‘99-‘06
-Steven Jackson ‘04-‘12
-Gurley ‘15-‘19

Then you should have put John Cappelletti in there.
Then Cleveland Gary. They weren’t great,but both were 1St Rd Draft Picks.

Cam Akers was a 2nd rd pick.He is the youngest player in The Rams.He is tough & should have a long career.
Almost for sure to be a first rd pick.

My top 3 faves: (got on in playoffs '75)

McCutcheon - used to open sport pages the next day to check his yardage (pre-internet)
Dickerson - same thing
Faulk - online stat checking became a thing (newspaper, what's that?)

Liking Akers a whole lot, hoping he becomes the next consistent top back

Back then, Monday’s USA Today was a vital piece of game-day information and stats as its box scores and game summaries were far more detailed on the prior day’s games.

Too young to remember Willie Ellison, but I remember from McCutcheon on.
Just seems we have always had good or great backs.
Absolutely hated when they traded Bettis. Had just received a Bettis jersey for
Christmas or birthday gift.
Also hated when they traded Kevin Greene. Guess what idiot coach was responsible for that?
Jeff Fisher was hired to replace Fritz Schumer. He brought in his 4/3 alignment that had
no use for a 3/4 olb.
The first clue Fisher sucked.
A good coach would have tweaked his system to fit around a Pro Bowl edge rusher.

That's a tough one. Not challenging your rankings, because everyone should
have a right to their personal favorites.
But, for my list I think I would have to put
Dickerson and Faulk as 1a and 1b.Can't make that decision.lol
My #2 would be Bettis even though he wasn't here long
With Jackson at #3.

Dude I didn't know what a USA today was until the high school library.
I was hooked from that moment on, until internet replaced it.
 
We’ll see with Akers...right now Zac Stacy is more deserving of being on that list but I do hope Akers can be a great player going forward.

we do seem to have a long history of greatness at the rb position tho...

I'm unfortunately to young to watch 29 other than highlights.
 
We've been so blessed at RB. And tbh I think Akers looks like he's going to belong. This game is a great opportunity for him too, kill it today and you're a household name.

Thankful that it's looking now like we hit on him. Hope this is his second coming out party, that first game vs Seattle he would have had a chance at the record if they don't rest him there at the end. And btw glad they rested him just saying he was having that type of a game so here's hoping he does it again today.
