One thing I have always felt ... you can't go wrong with OL from either Iowa or Wisconsin. Both of those programs have yr after yr produced some of the most "pro ready" OL .

LT Greg Robinson 332
LG Jarmon Brown 323
C Barrett Jones 308
RG Rodger Saffold 332
RT Rob Havensein 321

That's over 1,600 lbs of man.

That's a very inexperienced line. It's going to be very hard to expect to compete right away with that much inexperience. I'm glad they have finally invested heavily in the line. Hope they add two more picks today.
With 1600 pounds I think we can have 650 of those pounds just fall over and get in the way. Things are looking up!

I know this isn't exactly fair, but I have it in my mind (cautiously optimistic) that Haverstein will be a day 1 starter. Pro style, run first offense in college. Solid technical blocker, solid technique. Same position as college (there are differences when moving from LT to RT which he won't need to worry about). High IQ.

I feel better starting Haverstein than Garrett Reynolds or some veteran street free agent.

Totally agree. Reynolds came from a team with a bad offensive line and they didn't try to retain him.

And line up some helpwith Kendricks next to him on passing downs. We've done it before. Thats not a long term solution, but it can buy you a couple games until he gets trained up.

I could see the Horns resigning Barksdale on a one year "prove it" contract where he gets to prove to the rest of the NFL he is a legitimate RT. I don't know if he can upgrade his skills any more than they are now. However, it doesn't look good right now that he seems to need a stud guard (Beetlejuice) besides him to help him look good.

*Barrett Jones 6-5 308 24/3

P.S. I just do not see Boudreau starting the season with any rookie as starters early. Rookie Havenstein would be projected to win the starting ORT post over Reynolds by the bye. Brown should could push Barrett Jones @ OLG. Barrett Jones should easily take up 2014 Mike Person's left side roster spot. Main concern now is who can prove to be the main back up to Greg Robinson who is not named Rodger Saffold?
