Both Reeder and Adams made some good plays and a lot of bad plays.

But I give the edge to Reeder.

Our run defense was horrible when he was in the game.

There were at least 10 plays where I said - Goddammit Reeder.
Which is too many and is my point.
The DL was getting blown off the line for most of the first half.
Also, Reeder and Dolac rotated all game.....so, when the D was very good in the second half, that was with both of them playing.
All that said....going forward, the only time I would play Reeder is if Landman needs a rest, due to the green dot.....outside of that, its a three man rotation once Speights gets back.

I would definitely play Dolac over Reeder - the defense seemed to be much more in sync when he was in the game. But he is a rookie and he will make mistakes. At least against the Jags, they do not have a RB quite like the last 4 teams we have played.

True.
But, they do look good and their back has looked very good.
I expect another close game.....hoping against hope the O can get going and doesn't take a half to wake up.

The ravens were blowing thru our Dline at the beginning. I would have to give the fault to the Dline. I have to agree with fearsome on this. For a back up he played well enough.

Yes last year he was way over his head. Being the man. Making the D calls. We all agree with that. But now he is making some plays and is sharing time with Dolac and the LB room is not a weakness. Time to root for not against.
I wish I could but damn he is a weak link when he plays. Landman made up for a lot of Reeder's weaknesses.

To be fair to Reeder, PFF nor any of us have any knowledge of what player assignments are. We have zero idea of what gap responsibilities are at any time. While we can all see players getting washed out on running plays or getting beat man 2 man, but we have zero clue on zone calls, gap calls, match zone, etc. Reeder didn't look great yesterday but he looked far from bad, but we were playing a team that only put up 3 points, and previously got blown out by a bad Texans team...

I do feel Dolac is the future @ WSLB on passing downs, I don't think he has the tools to be an every down LB but again time will tell.

He’s getting less playing time due to these big fellas : Tyler Davis and Poona Ford.

And it’s not a bad thing! These two have plugged up the middle of the field and are the reason our run D is much improved. Doesn’t it feel good to not worry about the run game this year?
@OntarioRam This tweet is about Verse but you can see Fiske working and getting held on this play

This is a good shot, Ferguson just needs to trust his blockers. Higbee briefly gets beat but looks like he regained leverage and was about to seal the edge for Ferg when he panics and cuts upfield. Wonder if this could have been a TD if he just put on the burners to the pylon.

Great view on this play -- 100% agree. I bet he'd love to have this play back.

  • C Coleman Shelton - 52.6

McVay was asked what happened on that Stafford fumble (after our defense got a turnover we gave it right back). On that play, Shelton was in Stafford`s lap. McVay said there was a miscommunication on protection. So, I am wondering why Shelton is on the field if he can`t communicate protection or protect???

He also said there was a miscommunication on protection on that 4th and 3 play...

When will he just take the Center position seriously?
No doubt. So fucking irritating.

If there was a miscommunication it simply resulted in Shelton being 1 on 1 with the NT. And the result was him being pushed directly into his QB's lap. If your center is that bad, that being singled up in pass pro is a disaster, what you call that is a liability.

And the most irritating part of this is how long it's been going on. Throwing spare parts at the pivot is a McVay offseason specialty. Maybe, just maybe, he and Les can put their heads together and use one of those precious third round picks on the position.
