On behalf of @Ramrocket with the 119th pick of the ROD Mock Draft the Cleveland Browns select...

Terrill Hanks LB New Mexico

usa_today_11157484.0.jpg

Watching Hanks play may make you believe that he is a safety trapped in a linebacker’s body. That conclusion would be exactly right as Hanks came into New Mexico State as a safety and transitioned to linebacker after his freshman season. The transitioned has led to big results as Hanks has recorded 100+ tackles in each of his last three seasons while also roaming the secondary like a safety. Not only does he roam like a defensive back, Hanks is also capable of delivering a big downhill hit like a safety as well.

Hanks has one intangible that many linebackers in today’s game do not have. That is the ability to carry running backs and tight ends in coverage. Gifted with elite athleticism and very fluid, loose hips, the New Mexico State linebacker has what it takes to carry even the shiftiest players down the field.

The bottom line on Hanks may be this: he has a lot of upside, he is great in coverage, and he is one of the most naturally athletic linebackers in this year’s class.

With the 120th pick, The Minnesota Vikings select WR Jalen Hurd, Baylor

Big, tall kid but with an injury history. 6' 5" and 226 lbs, has 10 1/4 inch hands. NFL.com comparable is to Terrelle Pryor.

cee78472-f45c-405a-aaf4-7fc459d86ef1-hurd.jpg_jalen.jpg

Hurd was a five-star running back recruit who ranked among the top 10 players in the country at his position despite playing in just one game as a senior due to a shoulder injury (he was Tennessee's Mr. Football in 2012 with 3,357 rushing yards). As a true freshman at Tennessee, Hurd led the Volunteers in rushing (190-899-4.7, 5 TDs) and also contributed as a receiver (35-221-6.3, 2 TDs) while starting 9 of 13 games played. He made an impact in his first bowl game, rushing for 122 yards and two scores against Iowa in the TaxSlayer.com Bowl. He was a second-team All-SEC pick as a sophomore, starting all 13 games, again leading his team in rushing (277-1,288-4.6-12), being active in the passing game (22-190-8.6), and excelling in the postseason (Outback Bowl MVP with 24-130-5.4, TD vs. Northwestern). Things began to change in 2016 when Hurd started the first seven games of the year (112-4541-3.7, three TD) but suffered a concussion. He approached his coaches about a position change due to the head injury, and when they declined to move him, Hurd decided to transfer. Baylor accepted him into the fold in 2017, and he sat out the year while learning the wideout position. Coaches used him as a running back on occasion (48-209-4.4, three TD) during his senior season, but he won the Big 12 Offensive Newcomer of the Year award because he led the Bears in receiving (69-946-13.7, four TDs) while starting 11 of 12 games played. Hurd had a procedure on his knee in December, missing his team's bowl appearance.

Overview
Hurd was used as big slot but he might need to transition into a role outside to take advantage of his potential to stretch the field as a downfield ball-winner. He's still learning the nuances of the position, but he has outstanding traits, a great work ethic and an ability to get much better very quickly. While Hurd will be an NFL receiver, he offers a unique option of becoming a short-yardage banger near the goal line. His best days are in front of him.

The Tennessee Titans selects TCU Edge OLB Ben Banogu with their 4'th round and 121'st overall draft pick.

View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H0Nutryyuj4&frags=pl%2Cwn

Edge player who may fit best as a 3-4 OLB then play end in sub package situations. Shows good ability off the edge with a pass rush plan against the OT. Never quits on a play nor takes himself out of a rush. He will need to become more stout against run and work on his hands.

@draftsitebuddy

1'st - OG Cody Ford, OK
2'nd - DE Zach Allen, BC
3'rd - TE Caleb Wilson, UCLA
4'th - OLB Ben Banogu, TCU

Scharping was an all-state pick his senior year at Green Bay's Southwest High School, but wasn't picked up by his home-state Badgers. NIU is the closest FBS football program to Madison, so he took his game there. Scharping redshirted in 2014, then moved into the Huskies' starting lineup for all 14 games, 10 at right tackle and four at right guard in the midseason due to injuries on the line. He was named to the Football Writers' Association of America's Freshman All-American team after the 2015 season. MAC coaches showed appreciation of Scharping's game after the 2016 season, naming him first-team all-conference as he started all 12 games at right tackle. He moved to left tackle as a junior, starting all 13 games and again earning first-team all-conference accolades, as well as second-team Academic All-American notice. Scharping's scholastic and football achievement resulted in him being named a finalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy, as well as a first-team All-MAC selection as a 14-game starter for the Huskies. He finished his career starting all 52 possible games.

Overview
Ascending tackle prospect with impressive combination of size and functional athletic ability. Scharping has the ability to handle bull-rushers and finds ways to recover and get guys blocked after getting beat early. However, NFL rushers will look to exploit the inconsistent footwork and balance that shows up when his pass sets become hurried and unfocused against true edge speed. He might get a shot at left tackle, but might be best-suited on the right side where he has the potential to become an above-average starter.
Strengths
  • Has experience at both left and right tackle
  • High achiever in the classroom and said to pick up info quickly
  • Tall with well-proportioned mass and thickly muscled arms
  • Adequate ability to mirror
  • Changes pass-set depth and landmarks based upon opponent's speed
  • Has upper-body power to muscle and press edge rushers past the quarterback
  • Plays to his length with consistent arm extension to neutralize edge moves
  • Inside post-hand stabs and thwarts inside moves
  • Can brace and anchor after giving early ground
  • Possesses mass potential and power to become grinder as run blocker
  • Fits and drives through down blocks to clear the run lane of debris
  • Choppy steps and good base width as base blocker
Weaknesses
  • Pass-protection fundamentals in need of improvement
  • Comes out of stance with weight too far outside
  • Quick to open outside shoulder in pass sets, exposing an inside path
  • Pass slides feature long gallops rather than choppy, controlled feet
  • Fear of edge speed could make him succeptiable to inside counters
  • Needs to eliminate hitch before striking with his wide, outside hand
  • Late hands get challenged and discarded, forcing re-sets
  • Has a tendency to linger too long on first block on combos and against twists
  • Doesn't sustain run blocks like he should
