As we all know you gotta kick a lot of ass to be promoted to coordinator under McVay. He has a wandering eye for those spots. Maybe Shula is a guy who can pull that off, though I also think McVay favors secondary background types on the defensive side as coordinator.
Thanks for the update of Henderson coaching the OLB's last season so adding Beake to coach Miller (hopefully) & keeping Shula at ILB's makes sense.

As to preferring a Secondary background, well, after Phillips McVay has made two hires for DC, Brandon Staley (Linebackers) & Raheem Morris (Secondary) I still believe the future DC is Eric Henderson, but again "We'll See?"

McVay needs to hire Mina Kimes for his OC after Coen leaves. Huge pr and ESPN would become rams fans, she is smart and has a good football mind, and it would be a huge stretch for her to get promoted to head coach. Ergo, stability. Barring that extreme measure, he needs to look for massive introverts. Someone who loves analysis and information but fears people. get Crazy, McVay!
No can do..
She is a Hawks homer.

Well, if she's smart, she'll understand the Hawks are yesterday's news and moving forward will be just second class citizens at best in the NFC West.

She actually encouraged Aaron Donald to retire. She’s dead to me.

There is quite a bit going on with Brown, McVay is taking him under his wing and Tight End Coach is involved in both the running game & passing game plus McVay giving Brown the opportunity to hire the RB Coach. Is McVay truly getting Brown ready to be a Head Coach or the Heir Apparent?

Thomas Brown Will Coach Rams Tight Ends Group In 2022

With the NFL offseason now in full swing, the Los Angeles Rams have been busy filling the vacancies on their coaching staff. On Wednesday, the team announced that Liam Coen has returned to the organization to become the new offensive coordinator, replacing Kevin O’Connell, who was named head coach of the Minnesota Vikings last month.

Jake Peetz and Greg Olson will also reportedly join head coach Sean McVay’s offensive staff for the 2022 season, although their hirings have not been made official yet.

Another key member of the group is Thomas Brown, who found success as the Rams’ running backs coach and assistant head coach last season. He reportedly interviewed for the Vikings’ offensive coordinator job after O’Connell was hired.

Brown has exclusively coached the Rams’ running backs group since joining the franchise in 2020, but that is expected to change, as according to Greg Beacham of the Associated Press, he will shift gears and oversee the tight ends group next season:

Brown fills the void left by Wes Phillips, who served as the Rams’ tight ends coach for the last three seasons before leaving to become O’Connell’s offensive coordinator in Minnesota.

With Brown receiving a promotion, the Rams will now be on the lookout for a new running backs coach, which he will hire. According to multiple reports, L.A. is expected to interview TCU running backs coach, run-game coordinator and assistant head coach, Ra’Shaad Samples for the position.

Agree.

I thought Evero was the big loss this year. Thought it was Pleasant last off-season.

In 2020. Staley had Pleasant, Evero and Cooley as DB coaches. Now it’s just Cooley. Perhaps, Raheem Morris being a former DB coach gives the Rams some comfort.

Rams hire Liam Coen as offensive coordinator

The Rams are bringing back a familiar face to their offensive coaching staff.
Los Angeles has hired Liam Coen as their new offensive coordinator. Coen replaces Kevin O'Connell, who was named head coach of the Minnesota Vikings on Feb. 16.

Coen returns to L.A. after spending the 2021 season as the University of Kentucky's offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. In 2021, the Wildcats ranked fifth in scoring offense (32.3 points per game) and eighth in total offense (425.2 yards per game) in the SEC, including fifth in the conference in rushing offense at 199.5 yards per game. Under Coen's guidance, quarterback Will Levis finished sixth in the SEC in passing yards with 2,826, while running back Chris Rodriguez Jr. and wide receiver Wan'Dale Robinson each finished with the second-most rushing (1,379) and receiving yards (1,334), respectively, in the conference.

Prior to joining Kentucky's coaching staff, Coen spent three years on the Rams' staff from 2018-20. He served as assistant wide receivers coach in 2018 and 2019 before taking on assistant quarterbacks coach in 2020, when he helped Jared Goff post his fourth-consecutive season with 3,800 or more passing yards.

In 2019, Coen helped L.A.'s receiving unit produce a pair of 1,000-yard receivers for the second-consecutive season, a feat that had not been accomplished since a streak of four such seasons from 1999-2002. Wide receiver Robert Woods posted his second-straight 1,000-yard season, finishing with 1,134, while wide receiver Cooper Kupp tallied his first 1,000-yard season with a team-high 1,161 receiving yards.

Coen's first season in Los Angeles was highlighted by helping the Rams swiftly work 2018 offseason acquisition Brandin Cooks into the No. 3 scoring offense in the NFL. Cooks' 1,204 receiving yards and Woods' 1,219 marked career-highs for both players and made them the first Rams receiving duo to record more than 1,000 yards each since Torry Holt and Isaac Bruce in 2006.
