Feels more and more like the Rams are going to add a QB this year. We may need a draft night vent thread. :laugh3:

It wouldn’t be the first time for me. I, and many others, hated the Atwell pick. I didn’t like the Akers/Vsn Jefferson draft either.
I believe the window to win another super bowl is wide open. IMO, that #26 pick should go to upgrade a position that is needed to make the Rams a top tier contender. Milroe looks like a good prospect but not sure if a #1 pick is worth it this season when we are already set at QB, plus our backup.
Milroe could add to the offense this year in the form of trick plays. He’s got Justin Field’s level running ability.

McVay may just desire more escapability and not so much of the designed QB runs. Wolford running head first into defenders and injuring his neck seemed to shake him a bit.
But he then proceeded to sign Perkins and give him a couple years to develop, use Wentz the way he did and of course draft Bennett who's only redeeming asset was his ability to extend plays
He definitely has a vision for more athletic qb, just doesnt mean he'll use a 1st round pick on one

Seems like a guy Mcvay could develop due to his academic record and military family background.

Blazing speed and great long pass ability.

Don’t see a QB in our draft plans this year however.

The more the Rams look like they're interested in a QB, the more all the other QB needy teams will jump ahead of them and/or trade w/ them. Which pushes down the real targets, like someone already said. I highly doubt they get one this year.
...unless McVay really wants them to sit for at least a year under Matt, which would be smart--it's just that the quality of prospects really isn't that great.
Just go win a SB & figure it out later, Les!!

If we draft Milroe before the 6th round I'm gonna need a vent thread all to my own. Watched at least 15 of his games the last 2 years with my diehard Bama friend and he doesn't even like Milroe. When I told him the Steelers might draft him he went into hysterics (he's also a big Steelers fan). He has no touch except on deep balls, CANT throw over the middle of the field. Except for his legs he's a shit QB. Maybe McVay is QB whisperer but I don't think even he can fix Milroe. Just as inaccurate as Anthony Richardson and look how he's progressing. Rather try and develop McChord or Ewers than him.

In Todd McShay's Mock Draft 3.0 he has the Giants trading up ahead of the Rams for Milroe. He said there is a lot of buzz around the league about McVay and Milroe.

I'm not a big fan of Milroe's film. But he does have upside and the ability to stretch the field. I think he is one of the QBs in this draft McVay could make good use of down the road after much redshirting.

My own take on these QBs, and yes I realize I deviate greatly from all the mocks and experts...

Likely to start at this level: Cam Ward, Jaxson Dart, Tyler Shough, Kyle McCord. These guys will get long looks at QB and some or all could end up anywhere from QB2s to hitting.

Long road ahead to learn how to be passers at this level: Jalen Milroe, Riley Leonard. I wouldn't touch these guys until midrounds at the earliest unless you plan on aggressively calling QB runs and options.

Physical limitations they will need to overcome but I like their film: Dillon Gabriel (height), Kurtis Rourke (knee), Will Howard (arm strength). Seriously though both Gabriel and Rourke look really good on film man. Rourke is legit but that knee ugh. Howard needs a Shanny type system where he can live underneath, McVay values chunks downfield too much for him.

High bust risk: Shedur Sanders (arrogant + he is a black Kirk Cousins), Quinn Ewers (coward in the pocket + he is a poor man's Jared Goff). I think the NFL will chew both those dudes up.

Where this class sucks ball sack up top in terms of high end prospects, it shines in depth of options for development. IMO this is actually a good class for the Rams to go get a project to sit behind Stafford. Only problem is they will need to reach on that QB to get him in here.

I wouldn't mind him in, say, the second round, if McVay was really into him. But with #26? Absolutely no fucking way I'd be on board with that.

He is going in the first round. The NFL has invited him to sit in the green room during the draft, which means teams are looking at his as a first. He is not to my liking in the first either.

Doesn't mean anything other than if he isn't taken in the first round his unhappiness makes for good media storylines.

I dont see the Rams taking a QB early in this draft. Chances are Stafford is going to play 2 more years maybe more. They could draft a higher caliber QB next draft and sit him behind Stafford for at least 1 season. If Stafford retires after this season Jimmy G is still an option and draft a better QB than is available this draft.
You don't know that. Stafford could get concussed this year or hurt his back, and then he and wifey decide to hang it up at the end of the year.

God, this is silly season, the idea that Milroe can go in the 1st. I guess, what like a 5% chance?

Great point and succinct. If Rams want a QB in this draft, they'll have to reach for one. And I don't mean reach 10 spots, I'm talking 60-80 spots.

Ewwwwwww.

We are the RAMS.
That means we have #1 overall picks at QB.
Not this guy.

McVay never used Wentz. That was LaFluer calling the plays and Wentz’s time with the Rams was coming to a close.

Bit, maybe if they actually had an elusive running QB, instead of one that thinks he’s a fullback, then he might do some designed runs. It just seems a bit risky for a coach who tends to be very risk averse.
