This is really baffling for me. With this being the behind the scenes facts re: the OBJ contract talks, it even makes LESS sense to not do everything possible to make it work with your fancy new ARob toy. If nothing else, purely negotiation.

So weird that they didn't scheme up plays to make ARob a focal point. Negotiations for OBJ? Freeing up Kupp? Reducing wear and tear on Kupp?

You can't tell me it's all on ARob, I've watched the all-22 and he'd have 20 more receptions if he were first read. Are other teams the only ones who can release the ball in 2 seconds?

This one really doesn't make sense to me.

So now that the Rams are 2-3…OBJ speaks out about “I’m not sure about LA blah blah…”

Lol okay.

What’s next? “OBJ wants to return to the 4-1 Giants holla!”

[huge eye roll]

Amazing how quickly our fortunes can change. Just a couple months ago I thought Kupp, Robinson & OBj as our starting WR's would allow us to use Van Jefferson as trade bait at the Deadline, granting us another opportunity to seek out a quality player we might need for our race to the play-offs. 3 of those 4 players are now looking like huge disappointments for our current season, and the thought that we may have to invest one of our limited draft picks in a WR is actually pretty distressing.

Makes on appreciate guys like Kupp who negiotiate in the background - not in the media.
Do your job - let your talent and commitment do the rest. It's not like you have no agent beating the bushes and looking out for your best (monetary) interestes anyway.

This is tricky, how smart would it be to offer OBJ a multi year deal when he might not even play the first year. Well then make a lower offer, one that takes into account his age and injury history, but is this insulting to a player of his stature, does it become a tool in negotiations with other teams?
As far as we know no one has made OBJ an offer in the 8 months since the SB. All these conversations with Rodgers and Von and Brady have led to nothing. He’s hurt this knee before so is it reasonable to expect him to be ahead of schedule or is it more likely that they are cautious, this was a non contact injury remember. Odell proved his worth last year, when he’s healthy he’s still a difference maker, when that happens it’s going to be interesting.

I read about this when free agency first started. He said he would happily re-sign with the Rams, when they offered him "a real contract".

He’s not healthy yet. Why should they offer him anything?

Secondly, what does he think he’s worth? Tyrique Hill money!

They likely want to pay him for Nov.-Feb. 4 months if he’s even ready by November. It’s a little over a fourth of the season right?

So divide what Kupp is paid this year by 4. That is about 6.6 million for this year. Then he can be a free agent next year.

He was good before he got hurt. Now he's damaged goods. Move on from him. He could just say I'm a ram no matter what. But he can't make ridiculous money that way. McCutchen needs a chance. Move on. And thanks...

Bingo. Been saying it since I watched the week 1 all22. It's on McVay and Stafford to get him involved in the game plan. "Well the OL is so bad, Stafford can't get to his backside reads in the progression right now." While that may be true, McVay then needs to scheme up touches for ARob as the first read. Its so easy and obvious yet we're literally wasting $15M per year while being completely one dimensional on offense.

Pay him like last year when he came in late in the season, with a cheap salary CAP number which had big incentives, most of which were met, and payable by the Rams this year.
As much as I'd like to see OBj in Horns again, let's not chase an injury prone diva into a big guaranteed salary without absolutely knowing he can pass a strenuous physical. jmo.

Problem with OBJ is this is his second major injury to that same leg. How's that leg going to hold up? It already failed twice... On this one I agree with the Rams on. If he goes somewhere and shines then I'm sure we'll here what a monumental fuckup the Rams FO has become... Shrugs.

Agreed. It’s risky. OBJ obviously has a high opinion of himself.

Seems to come with the territory for a lot of WR's & CB's, guess they can't all be like Kupp.
I have a pretty high opinion of OBj myself, but not to the point where I load the gun for someone who may also want to hold me up.

If OBJ had already received an offer that met his expectations, he'd have signed it by now. He hasn't, and likely won't. I'm OK with him evaluating a market-value offer from the Rams along with any other interested team's offers. If he truly believes that the environment that he played in with the Rams last year was a plus, he should take that into consideration. If he wants better odds to win a championship or something else, go sign where you want. The Rams shouldn't be overpaying anyone at this point.

Exactly. Some teams (GB) can afford to take the gamble - the Rams cannot, especially not after Gurley and Goff - (both of which I agrred with at the time, and still do).
Read somewhere as we stand right now, we are $3M over the cap for '23.
Too bad, cuz he's really good, and him and Stafford seemed to be pretty much on the same page. Shrugs as well.
