This is probably blasphemy, but if Reynolds starts getting more time and can make plays downfield, do you still break the bank for Watkins if he is expecting to be paid top WR money?

With an offensive minded headcoach and the fact that they traded a #2 pick for him, they probsbly will, but long-term it might not be the right move.

IMO, yes. You let Woods go after 2018 (maybe trade him).

Where are you getting this? I can see Alexander needing to step up in order to keep his job but Joyner has been playing really well until his injury.

I phrased that very poorly, 503.

My apologies.

What I meant to say was that many feel that it is unlikely that the Rams extend both Joyner and Alexander as a tandem. IOW, there might be only enough cap room for one or the other.

The constant rotation of guys is something that I think speaks volumes to McVay.

He knows that this is a long season. Keeping everyone fresh while establishing a rhythm is absolutely vital.

It aides in the next man up mentality but also in the keeping guys fresh and ready for the long term.

That seems to be the way his contract was structured. Maybe they knew Watkins was in play so they wouldn't fully commit to woods.

Reynolds. Gonna get more and more snaps, no question.
I hope not. I'd rather see Watkins brought back, Woods stay, & Kupp continue to develop as part of the core three. That's a trio that looks pretty good right now AND moving forward.

Reynolds and these other young receivers will get their day eventually but i hope it's LATER.

It's a valid question/scenario. Personally i 'd rather see Watkins return. It looks like this team might contend sooner rather than later...and i prefer some veteran-in-their-prime-difference-makers sprinkled around on this roster.

I don't think you can win a Super Bowl with a roster full of kids.

Can we extend this guy???

There are some good starters in our 53man squad, I like the fact we can rest and rotate guys in without much of a difference.

As to the question about cutting Watkins - thats a hell no from me. He's an elite WR and he is in his prime, let Reynolds learn from him. It's been years since we had WRs and now we have a bus full of them!

I'm not altogether sure that I can put it into football terms or stats, but I really like Woods...Maybe it's just that he passes the eye test well for me..

I'm not saying woods is a bad wr. He's great and pretty much catches everything that is catchable. What I'm saying is that the rams may only want one high priced wr on their books. If that's Sammy then woods may not be in their plans.

Me, I'd love it if they were able to keep all the wrs. What a great group of pros they are and a luxury for Goff to throw to every game.

Sounds kind of absurd now huh? :D
No. I would always want our back-up ready to replace the starter if heaven forbid he should go down. I have to say that I think we could be in worse condition than having Mannion as our back-up. I still think he can play in this league.

Agreed, except I think you missed my point.

Some of the posters on here were serious that they wanted Mannion to start over Goff and I know Eric Dickerson was serious too.

I not only thought that Goff was going to be everything we expected him to be but I was even more sure that they going to give Goff every chance in the world to be the starter.

Nah. I didn't miss your point. I just took advantage of it to give Mannion a little love. Hell, he played his college career about 45 minutes from where I lived and I watched pretty much every game he ever played as a Beav. He's no slouch but hopefully we never have to find out except maybe when we're saving Goff for the playoffs.

woods not so pricey right now, 7 mil for 5 years. Not so much for a #2 wide receiver. Let Reynolds learn and earn his spurs
