I think 9 to 10 wins is possible with that schedule if things go right. It's not a stretch to see the defense perform very well, say top 10 in scoring allowed, which will keep them in most games. Not a stretch to see a bounceback season by Gurley.

Goff is the key. If he plays well all is possible. And that schedule is not too tough this year. My hope is 9 wins, which I think is within the realm of reason. Maybe not likely, but still a reasonable expectation IMO.

I do try to look at the positive side early on. It can be a fine line between winning and losing in today's NFL. Teams can turn things around in a very short time from being losing team to being a winning team and vice a versa.

We're all different. I am of the optimistic ilk. As game results accumulate and a pattern forms, reality sets in. Either they're good or bad (bad lately for almost 15 years). And when they're bad, the optimist hopefully has his health.

A pessimist is always going to take the approach of doom and gloom. Even when success arrives there's a negative associated with it. Winning records get old unless they bring a postseason berth. Postseason berths get old unless you win a postseason game. Winning postseason games get old if you don't make the Superbowl. And as ridiculous as it sounds, making the Superbowl gets old if you don't win one. One Superbowl win should have actually been 2....or 3. It's a progression.

In the last dozen years, the Bengals have been to the postseason 7 times. They have "0" postseason wins and missed the postseason last year. The Eagles have been to the postseason 10 of the last 17 years; 3 times in the last 8 years without a postseason win and just once to the postseason the last 6 years. The Rams haven't been to the postseason since 2004 (12 years), haven't had a winning record since 2003 (13 years), lost the last Superbowl they played and are 18 years removed from their last championship. That sucks but I can still remember the night I watched them beat the Titans.....like it was yesterday. There are 32 teams in the NFL and only 10 of them have won the Superbowl since the Rams last did it. In my mind Ram fans should be in the top 1/3 of most satisfied NFL fans. Particularly since our new owner is still relatively new, we have a young, bright, energetic coach with a damn good staff taking over this year and a new palace opening in two years.

Maybe soon, us optimists will forget we ever had something to be down about but pessimists will always have something to be unhappy about.

Huh.... I got 16-0 out of that. Does that make me a boner?

FIFY

10-6 that is what I have and I'm sticking to it! Wins against the Redskins and Jaguars propels that record to 10-6.

I'd love to see that, and with some breaks it would be possible. Palmer falling down in AZ would be a good thing and would turn two L's into W's for me.

I am actually clueless on what to expect in terms of W-L. Every game is seen as a W and can be. I really want to see improvement. A team and players that get better, adjust at halftime. Last year 3-1 and then what happened. The Oline which was a bunch of rookies in 2015 was worse in 2016. Seeing possibly the best D player in the NFL losing it so early in the year. That has to be avoided. On any given Sunday. No reason that Rams can not look at playoffs in 2017. Alot has to go right though.

It's true a lot has to go right but that CAN happen. It's not common but 9 win teams make the playoffs sometimes and this team could pull that off.

The Rams are a 4 win team without its first round draft pick.

They were a 6 win team last year and I don't think missing out on a #1 is going to mean a step back. If they win 4 games it'll be for a few other reasons not that one!

Me too, but i'd give my left nut just to go 9-7

Now I don't know what to say about how many games I want the Rams to win. If you lose a nut you are less likely to post in the Booty Thread. Fewer posts in that thread wouldn't make me happy. I'm torn.

That pic is FANTASTIC!!!

Bonerism....lots of it.

Agreed Goff is the key, I've been saying that myself for awhile. He has to play at least at an average NFL QB level or the team goes nowhere. I don't expect a superstar in essentially a near rookie year. But he has to be "OK" or we are looking at 6-10.

Wrong.

The Rams started 3-1 then went 1-11.

4 wins. 12 losses.

I am not optimistic or pessimistic.

I'm a realist and can't really be concerned with wins and losses during McVay's first year.

Instead, I want to see smart football being played, not penalty filled, self defeating, stupidity.

I want to see daring and unpredictable offensive play calling that backs off defenses.

I want to see highly intelligent, "football has always been and always will be my life", players drafted.

I want to see continued savvy free agent signings.

When I do, I just might, too, start making predictions of double digit wins and impending glory in the playoffs.

Yeah.......I got your boner. Oh wait! Scratch that.

Would I be surprised if the Rams won 10 or 11 games this season? No.

Would I be surprised if the Rams just won 4 or 5 games this season? No.

It DOES have the feeling of a big unknown right now. At least for me!

Hard to believe they were 3-1 and finish 1-11 and lost the 49ers twice . I'm done trying to figure out what will happen because I have no clue . I will say it all hinges on Goff and I like the fresh faces and new coach. Go Rams

^^^This ^^^

The offense should be improved, how can it get much worse? Special teams should be fine as usual. The defense under Wade Phillips is the real mystery to me. But if I see DB's ten yards off the receivers again for another season I will scream.

Optimistic? Rams have a winning season. Pessimistic? I got 25,000 ROD bucks that says the Rams DON'T win 4 games in a row.
I'm Optimistic! The Rams Best chance to Win 4 straight is their 1st 4 games! Let me see the Rams 1st Pre-Season Game, and I might take you up on that Bet!!!(y):D
