Last I read we were top 10 in cap space.
We are middle of the pack at 16th most cap space. We can make maybe 1 or 2 splash signings and still have enough cash for our draft class. If you look at cap space before our draft picks are signed, you subtract $10-15M.

FA starting this week (12th). Gotta say this offseason has moved fast. Hoping they go get CB Reed, but I think his size is not what they're looking for.

C Kelly is long in the tooth but offers what would be a clear upgrade in pass pro for this line. Also he may not be too expensive, represents the safe type of FA investment the Rams may be looking for and even if Limmer beats him out would be a good room addition. Thing is we have a ton of money wrapped into the line already.

CB Douglas is my bet for the CB the Rams chase, if they do chase a corner in the market. He adds size that we badly need, first off. And with our rush his ability to provide good coverage early in a snap plus a bit of playmaking ability jive well with how our defense is shaping up.

ILB Sherwood would be the guy I'd look at if they want to upgrade the offball group. He might get more action than Bolton on the market, as well, but if they're thinking of investing in that position he's the one I'd bring in.

Safety they just signed last year, so I don't see them looking at them, but if they do one buy-low option is Hufanga.

DL seems unlikely with the depth of this DL class but maybe that means some of the lesser options are very cheap. DL Campbell for example would be great in a mentorship and depth role in this unit.

It's a real shame WR Diggs tore that ACL. Rams otherwise would have been all over him I am sure. Would they roll the dice on him? Normally I'd say why not, but their recent FA failures insinuate to me that they will go with more stable signings.
Yeah I think Sherwood is an intriguing FA had him in my mock. I'm still holding out hope that we don't get outbid on Ward, Douglas doesn't move the needle much for me.

Looking at this free agent class it's probably a good year to hold off on spending

I'd hope they'd go after Murphy over Douglas. Younger and, frankly, better IMO. He'd be my top FA I'd be going after (outside of Godwin, but that's probably a pipe dream).

If you're talking about Ward from SF, we are not getting him. He's been very adamant about not remaining in California after the tragic loss of his baby. I'd be extremely surprised if he reversed course on that one.

He was simply not good last year either. I know he had personal issues, but his play on the field was not good.

That might be exactly why he'll get another chance. I can't imagine anyone going what he went thru and it not affecting them in all other avenues of life. I know we talk shit about the Whiners all the time but I couldn't even begin to imagine the shit he went thru. I'd be a fucking mess and would have such a hard time just getting thru day to day.

Still have hope since Garrett said he wanted to win. Anybody is fair game imo but I get the wanting out of California.

My best remaining FA's for the Rams:
1. Asante Samuel Jr - CB Good young CB to grow with our young D
2. Ahkello Witherspoon - CB Was great for us last year
3. Elijah Moore - WR Still very young with a lot of potential, has always needed a good QB
4. Willie Gay Jr - LB Was very effective in KC, not sure what happened last year, but should be cheap
5. Jack Gibbens - LB Worth a shot for a cheap potential good starting MLB, when given snaps was very good

6. Evan Engram - TE If not too expensive. I'd rather we draft one in this good TE class, but, wouldn't be mad about it

The Rams desperately need a good linebacker. The Eagles games last season exposed this weakness. Our roster has Speights and Reeder right now? Reeder is hit and miss, mostly miss. We need a run stuffer to take the defense to another level, IMO.
