Good catch! Almost forgot IP was still on the team. Hope his knee is straight and he picks up where he left off last year!

i have no idea if he beats out watts but watts is suspended for 4 games and we're all assuming gurley will be ready to go by week 5.

it will be interesting to see how the carries are split up once gurley gets up to speed with pass pro. he is the definition of a 3 down back.

.

Put me in the boat with those that are fine with the RB corp we already have, although rotating fresh legs after the bye week would be beneficial considering some of the run defenses the Rams face in the middle is the season

I am excited to see TG as much as anyone... But a few games isn't nothing in the big picture. Sit him until healed.

If that's week 8, so be it.

We have Mason and Cunningham, both very good capable backs. Absolutely no need to rush Gurley. The selection of Gurley wasn't about 2015, it was about getting a back with face of the league type talent.

I guess my point has been, play Gurley at the right time..not a week before that or a week after that. The sense I get reading posts from fans that feel burned by Bradford's knee, is that even after the Doc says Gurley is ready to go, add a few weeks more just for good measure. We can't feel like the two situations are the same (Bradford and Gurley). No one wants to rush him out there, but I want his tail out there the minute the Doc says he's ready. If that's tomorrow or 5 weeks from now, so be it.

It's not just Bradford, but Jake Long too. Both guys tore the same knee they did the year before. That makes you feel that either the surgery was botched or the rehab process not long or good enough. Now it could easily be neither of those and it was a freak thing. I want Gurley to be more than ready because we have 2 quality backs able of playing well. Most of us would have been totally fine going into the year with Mason starting for us.

I hear ya, and I tend to agree. The thing that scares me is what I read last year with regards to the blood flow not being 100% restored in the affected area. I think that is why they said Bradford had little to no swelling after his second tear. I don't know how long it is supposed to take for the blood flow to return to normal, or if it even affects the durability (although I would guess it would), but that has stuck with me. Can anyone here who has had the surgery (or is a Dr) weigh in?

With TG and Watts on the sideline, this may be Pead's finally chance to shine as a RB with the Rams. I hope he does well with this chance, as up to now, I have been disappointed.

Not just that - if Fisher does like Watts a lot (if he shows a lot during preseason) they might be able to use Pead as trade bait then to a team that has had a running back injury. I wouldn't expect a lot in return, even if Pead looked much better than he has - but much better to get a 7th or something than just have to cut a capable guy in Pead or Watts.

Of course, I could be totally dreaming that there would be any way to restore any trade value to Pead.

I have more faith in Gurley's rehab than either Bradford or Long... both of those guys being older and less athletic IMO.

I agree with those that say "as soon as the doc says he's ready to go, get him out there".

Earlier, I was on the other side, but I've changed my mind and no one can do a damned thing about that!!

Am I the only one not on the Pead train?

I don't think any of us are going out to buy jerseys or anything - but why not jump on board? It's August - the month where all of our potential cuts are worth a draft pick to every other team and all of the guys who make the final 53 should be getting measured for gold jackets.

In all seriousness though - maybe he actually contributes this year.

I definitely think he contributes on special teams. I've given up on him as a RB though. I think he may have better success as a slot WR. He lacks vision as a RB. I think he can be a very good teams guy, like Chase Reynolds.

Bradford was young and athletic. I would rather be super cautious.

The thing is - Doctor's recommendations are NOT exact. Different docs would give different dates, and there's always some info they don't have. Being conservative on implementing their recommendations makes some sense. I'm not saying wait months afterwards, just that taking their recommendation as meaning that rehab should be even harder to ensure the supporting muscles are incredibly strong makes sense to me.

I've never met a doctor that is able to give me certainty on any conditions.

So Gurley takes it slow, get his feet a little wet at home in week #3 against the Steelers, then goes on the road against the Cards. and the Packers!? I'm OK with that!
