Disagree on Jefferson.
Think he backs-up Woods and Kupp, with Atwell behind DeSean Jackson this season and stepping up in 2022.
The Woods and Kupp restructures likely keep them in Horns through 2022 but by then, Jefferson (who would be entering his prime) could be ahead of them on the depth chart.
I admit it’s tough for me to be negative regarding Jefferson. If you’re right and his ‘days are numbered’ then the Rams are already moving on from the 57th overall pick in 2020; and that would be really bad.

I definitely do not think Jefferson is done or gone etc. The dude can play. I actually don't think the rams are done tinkering but kupp gets hurt enough and having 3 wideouts with DJax and Atwell swapping injury etc....also some mentioned 5 wideout sets that's a terror. It will all come down to the blocking but Jefferson in the limited time I've seen him and his college career I believe he is a keeper.
The cap explodes next year rams have showed they are willing to eat money but DJax only one year that said we could still keep the four if not I could see kupp or Woods being traded.
Hope not but by now we know rams do whatever it takes to get something done.

His rookie contract runs out on 23 though the year after you suggest we cant cut/trade Kupp and Woods. So this draft just relegated a 2nd round pick to a backup likely inactive on game days until the last year of his rookie deal barring injuries to others. Not an ideal prospect for a day two pick. McVay wants speed, not something he provides so is he the odd man out?

If that's the case, it makes passing on Denzel Mims (a huge and fast receiver) all the worse. However, I don't think that Jefferson will be relegated to the bench; he's got another year as a pro, another year to prove himself over Desean Jackson (whom I think will definitely be hurt sometime in the season; I'm sorry, but he's above thirty and has had medical concerns in the past.)
I still think that Kupp/Woods could be traded (it wouldn't be the first time we did that to a player with a new or restructured contract) and that maybe we draft another receiver who fits whatever system McVay wants to run. And Jefferson, Atwell, Woods/Kupp (whomever we don't trade), and a new receiver end up being amongst the depth chart.

Really confused by your post.
You're talking about Jefferson ... right? He was a second round pick, not a third. He was #57 last year. Same as Atwell couple days ago.
Jefferson's rookie contract is through 2023 (we agree there). Woods and Kupp are pretty-much unmovable for 2021 and that's OK because they are the top two-WRs.
I am saying that Jefferson is the primary back-up to Woods and Kupp in 2021. Should either go-down, or come-out for a series, it would be Jefferson getting most of the snaps, and not Jackson or Atwell who will have a more specific role.
Woods and Kupp are probably around through 2022 but they will have a lot of tread on their tires by then. 2022 would be Woods' tenth season I believe. Should Jefferson develop nicely, he could have a larger role in 2022 than either Woods or Kupp; and transition to a starting-role. He would be due an extension after 2023 but Woods and/or Kupp would be off the books by 2024 ... maybe a year earlier.
Going back to DeSean Jackson for a moment. I don't see him as either the 3rd or 4th WR because I believe they brought him here to stretch-the-field. He has a specific role. I see Atwell as having the same role as Jackson, who I do not believe has played sixteen games since his rookie season. That makes having a second deep-threat / speed-option critical. If DeSean Jackson is successful but then goes down, the offense needs another option. Also see Jackson as a one-year-Ram, so Atwell can step-up in 2022.
As to the 'inactive on game-day' comment, I completely disagree. Even if Woods, Kupp, Jackson and Atwell are the top-4 WRs, Van Jefferson will be a game-day-active.
From a big picture OldSchool, I don't see this Rams' WR Group as a simple one-through-five depth chart where the top two play in a two-WR / two-TE set, and the 3rd-WR comes in when the Rams go three-wide, and the 4th-WR goes in when one of the top-three is injured or needs a breather.
For example, say the top-five are Woods, Kupp, Jackson, Atwell and Jefferson. Should Woods and Kupp be injured and miss a game, do you see DeSean Jackson and Tutu Atwell starting? I don't.

I get all that and love Van. But McVay has shown us and told us he wants speed on offense. Van doesn’t provide that and add to that what this draft would require is for us to have 5 WR active game day with none of them being kick or punt returners. So 2 qb, 3rb, 3 TE, 7 ol, 6 wr 3 specialists.. That’s 24 of our 46 game day active 22 for defense. It’s pushing it for game days when you factor in Harris, Funk and Skowronek are special teams guys unless they’re among the rb/wr/TE game day actives. All these draft picks make game days very crowded.

Van's got wheels, though. Were he able to participate in the Combine 40 yard dash the year he came out (let's not forget he had a fractured foot and played through it), he probably would've been a 4.3 speed guy.
Harris, Funk, and Skowronek, I can see being ST players, and yes, there's a lot of mouths to feed with only one ball. But Van, I see starting. Kupp is one of the best slot receivers in the game. Woods is solid on the outside, but Jefferson could legitimately split time with Jackson, and maybe sprinkle in Atwell in occasionally; I don't think he'll be a huge factor this year.
But let's not forget that Desean Jackson has injury questions of his own. Kupp has had injury questions. Woods has had injuries in the past and he'll be thirty next year. Van's going to get opportunities. What he makes of them is unknown, but I'd gladly give him the chance to prove it.

Well, they’re pretty unmovable for 2021 because they don’t have replacements, Woods contract is surely movable after and really so Is Kupp. After seeing the cap hits they took in dumping Gurley, Cooks and Goff, they clearly wouldn’t sweat cap hit for either of them.
Rams mantra is in belief that 1st round picks and dead cap hits are meaningless
