The Rams got down to the NFL limit of 53 players on their roster by cutting backup quarterback Kellen Clemens. That means rookie QB Austin Davis beat out Clemens and will back up Sam Bradford to begin the 2012 season.

The other cuts announced by the Rams: Quarterback Tom Brandstater, Running back Chase Reynolds, Fullbacks Ben Guidugli and Ovie Mughelli, wide receiver Nick Johnson, Tight ends Corey Harkey and Deangelo Peterson. Also cut were offensive linemen Tim Barnes (a Mizzou alum), T-Bob Hebert, Joe Long, Bryan Mattison and Jose Valdez. Defensive linemen Cornell Banks, Mason Brodine, Vernon Gholston, Jamaar Jarrett and Scott Smith, linbeackers Aaron Brown and Sammy Brown and finally defensive back Kendric Burney.

Excellent decision to keep AD, it was clear throughout the pre-season that AD has something special going on, even his team mates recognized it when he joined the huddle, you could see the energy level rise.....well done. :hehe:

:idk?: Well, since the OL is so solidly in place.

When Fisher said there wasn't any controversy over his #2 QB, I didn't imagine he meant the rookie won. Not that I'm crying over it.

I didn't envision that either. I figured they'd keep 3 and Clemens was the clear #2 (based on what he said). I think that's now 23 or 24 guys from last year that remain. They're remodeling alright. I think by next year we might have about a half dozen starters left over from the 2010 season, and only 3 of those were draft picks. Bradford, Saffold, Laurinaitis, and Long (depending on how you define Devaney's involvement in the 2008 draft).

My thoughts on Clemens...

He fucking Sucks, and I'm happy we cut him. He had the opportunity to make the team because of his experience,,, but his playing skills cost him the job.

Last time I saw a backup in the preseason I liked as much as I do AD it was Marc Bulger.

IDK if you mean that in a good way or bad lol.

Assuming good, since Bulger was good towards the beginning of his career.

He was amazing for FA pickup backup, his first start he beat the unbeaten Raiders, yeah I meant good, his later career was more a case of him not being able to carry a bad team and bad coaching.
