Way too much intensity down the stretch, might have lost a year off the ole ticker with that one. Great win though and a chance to lock up the division today.

It will be interesting to see how they handle this coming week.

I hope you are right.
That would mean there ARE plays he’s just reluctant to use.
Come playoff time, he won’t have a choice. He will have to try some of those riskier or chunk plays.

One play that always stands out in my mind from the title run in ‘21 is that flea flicker screen to our 3rd string TE (Blanton) in a congested backfield vs the 9ers (IIRC) that went for over 10 yards at a critical point in the game.

I never saw that play ran before that game and I have not seen it ran since—in 3 years!

Plays like that are coming. They HAVE to be.
We know McVay has riskier plays because we see them every time it's the 4th quarter and we have to score points.

Suddenly, Stafford and McVay light up even if the offense had stalled all day.

McVay is just conservative by nature. Too conservative for my taste. Many times I wish he went for more 4th downs. On play calls, he only brings out exotic stuff when he's forced to. He's the anti-Campbell.

i will give this a spin. Stafford passes were thrown with such velocity their DB's were not up to the task and that defense was opportunistic. How about Don Shula's Grandson? He's a keeper!;)
Yeah, Shula is growing on me!

From what I've heard from friends who have been Detroit fans for years, this is the story on Stafford. He mostly plays like a MVP, but then weirdly plays awful at times when you wouldn't expect it. I think this holds water since Stafford joined the Rams. He seems to be going through his awful period the last three games. The good news, he should be back to Stafford MVP come play time!
Didnt he go through a similar stretch in 21? He threw pick 6s in 3 or 4 consecutive games and I think the Rams won the last 2 or 3 of those games on their run to week 18.

Sure Noteboom took some penalties and hasn't been good, but the offense has been bad for three games in a row and he wasn't playing in all of them. Here's to hoping the offense is there when it counts (I think it will be)

Is this the new excuse? Noteboom. Yes, he was terrible, but this offense is just bad. Period.

That’s been the offense most of the year most passes are close to line of scrimmage
The offenses being played against the Rams for some of these teams like the Saints, Jets, Cardinals was taking advantage of the soft cushion. It makes for long drives and doesn’t let the Rams offense on the field. With only a few drives it is hard to get a rhythm going on offense.

Seems to be...I've been seeing a lot of comments specifically about him.
He did kill three drives with penalties. The offense isn’t great but with so few opportunities and opponents chewing so much clock, every drive gets even more important. So three penalties are a bigger deal than in games where the offense has more opportunities.

In a way, the defensive scheme is also to blame because it keeps the offense off the field. But it’s hard to argue with low points allowed. I’d prefer not to give up big cushions. It works for the D but hurts the O.
