Tutu was out there some with Kupp and Nacua due to D-Rob's injury. D-Rob came back into the game later, but we continued to use Tutu. I believe it was on here that I said it. Tutu is going to be most effective when you can put him in motion before the snap, but McVay prefers to motion Kupp and Puka. D-Rob tends to operate like a traditional X. That's why it's hard to just insert Tutu into the lineup. But I think he should be playing more. He's been separating and catching the ball well. Plus, nobody else at WR offers his speed.
Even if he is not getting the ball he does some good work clearing things out. He runs deep and other guys run stuff underneath quite a bit. Defenses have to respect his speed.
I would like Tutu to be used more....in fact I was often called out on this site for stating this through last year and the off season....but, he has his role. I was not sold on Robinson, but, he too has his skill set and contributes in a big way.
There are roles for all four.
Tutu and Robinson have both delivered more often than not when called on.
Ive been impressed with both of them.
Robinson being so effective in the deep red zone is a direct cause of having Kupp and Puka in there because they demand so much attention in the deep red zone. But, Robinson is good at getting quick separation and that serves him well on short quick throws like you get inside the 10. He is also a determined blocker.
I hope the Rams resign Tutu.
I think the Rams WR room with Kupp, Puka, Robinson, Tutu and Whittington can be a special one.
I could certainly see a role for Tutu where he is getting 50 + yards a game and be a key contributor, as we have seen several times this year.
A key thing that frees it up for all of them is play action off of the running game.
I would for sure get him on Ward on Thursday and take a couple of shots.
Ward cannot run with him.
