Rams vs. Raiders: Final score prediction for Week 1
By: Cameron DaSilva
While the Rams are favored over the Raiders, no game in the NFL is guaranteed to be a win. Just look at the Bucs-Saints game from Sunday, which was the highest-scoring Week 1 matchup in the Super Bowl era.
It’s easy to foresee a Rams victory on Monday night against a Raiders team with several question marks and no Khalil Mack on defense. Although there are some minor concerns about the Rams’ offense being rusty, Los Angeles should come away with a win – and we believe it will.
Final score: Rams 28, Raiders 20
If this were a midseason contest and the Rams had a few games under their belt, the predicted score would be much higher. However, with Jared Goff and the starting offense resting all preseason and taking zero snaps since their January loss to the Falcons, we’re going to take a cautioned approach to the final score.
There’s a chance the Rams come out a bit sluggish and out of sync on Monday night, possibly taking some time to get going. The Raiders don’t have anyone on defense that should scare Sean McVay, especially with Mack in Chicago. Bruce Irvin is their top pass rusher, but that’s not saying much.
Arden Key has a nice skill set, but he’s a rookie and hasn’t taken a regular season snap in the NFL. The same goes for Maurice Hurst out of Michigan. Overall, it’s an underwhelming defense that could get shredded for 42 points on Monday night. It won’t, but it could.
