When you spend the entire offseason building the trenches with focus on physicality, only to enter game 1 vs the team that sent you home in the playoffs without your starting tackles.

I was at that Playoff game last January. Their fans suck.

You would have thought they won the frigging SB, I guess to them maybe it was. Its like the Padres fans celebrating a WC series win.

Would like nothing more than that to hand these guys an L.

Wait... what? That's a switcharoo I wasn't expecting. There were some hints during training camp at Avila struggling at times in pass pro at center so wonder if they had to pivot due to that.
When were there hints? Seems to me it is just making sure they got every scenario covered.

There were quite a few reports from multiple people here and in media talking about Avila ending up on ground or getting pushed back, especially by Fiske. I brushed it off because might have been only a few reps being mentioned by multiple people or whatever... it's training camp and he was learning a new position so wasn't worried about it. But now wondering if it concerned coaches. Just conjecture since we won't know coaches reasoning.

Detroit is a really good team. And Ford Field is a tough place to play. That building will be buzzing extra too. Home opener. Week 1. SNF. Against Stafford. It will likely be the loudest it will be all year.

No idea what the Lions' injury report looks like. But if they are fully healthy for week 1, and we are down both tackles, this will be a very tough task.

But we have the better QB, and a much better coach schematically, so we've got a real shot regardless. We should have beat them last year in the playoffs but for a blatant missed hold on Puka. And they had a much better roster realistically.
