I stand by what I said. No way that should've been converted in that situation. This was the reason wade is no longer a DC.
other teams have converted 3rd and longer...even against Spags as DC..it does happen

Hopefully, Terrell Lewis can provide it. I really wish we'd let Jachai Polite get more PT. Maybe there's a reason he doesn't, but other than Floyd, he's the only guy on this team who can win with speed off the edge.

Why do you 'think' that is jrry? Is it a lack-of-commitment type of deal? Or is he just buried in the depth chart?

Yeah Lewis is definitely the hope. We don't just need the pass rush. We need the contain too. Ebu has always sucked ass on contain it's not new.

When we start hittin the stretch with Seattle & Arizona we better have that shit sorted.

Ebukam played very poorly today. He deserved to get benched. Didn't set the edge well on runs. Didn't rush the passer well. It was an ugly effort.

This loss is on Staley who waited until they were 25 points down to turn his dogs loose. This game would never have been close had he started the game that aggressively. Playing not to lose is a loser philosophy IMO. His loose prevent defense zone is crap and got exposed exactly like I knew it would. He's got a man coverage secondary but he refuses to use it that way. He plays to their weaknesses a sign of a POOR coach. Staley needs to change his freaking defensive scheme because I predicted that in a close game his scheme allows the offense to come back and control the final clock. That is exactly what happened.

Staley's defensive scheme sucks. It's not the players it's the freaking coach. People thought the o-line personnel was the problem last year and this year it proves it was the coaching. Staley is the Kromer of the defense. Wilson can't wait to play this soft zone he's going to eat it up.

Hill can't cover and he can't tackle.

Yeah there is no way that should have been converted. But when it is converted it doesn't mean your DC isn't capable. Your logic here is out of fucking whack IMO.

But since you're standing by it and all that guess we'll agree to disagree. Cheers.
It wasn't just one 3rd and forever that was converted. It was two and both the same problem. Guy running wide open in the middle of the field surrounded by rams. Obviously the coach didn't do his job if it happened a 2nd time the exact same way as the 1st. That's just the 2 3rd and longs let's not talk about run d and zero pass rush. They're plenty of reason to question Staley capability as a DC at the NFL level.

I like your optimism the problem is that, we play 3 QBS in 5 games that play a similar style,

How many of those games is Ramsey going to forget how to play?
How many of those are we going to be on back to back east coast 10am games?
Its not like the coaches aren't going to go over zone responsibilities.

It all looks very coachable to me.

If we lacked the talent to be good, then I would worry, but we don't. Our DBs are fine players. They will go over it and tighten it up.
It was the lack of pass rush in the 1st half that set us back, and Jalens gambling. If a QB has an 8 foot bubble for 4 seconds, he's going to find wide open guys.

Here we go.... get ready to read this opinion, win or loss, good performance or bad, over and over all season.

On the 3rd and 22, John Johnson was the reason for the failure. But we're breaking in a completely new scheme with no preseason and a limited offseason. There are going to be hiccups. Johnson failed to execute his assignment. He got caught watching the QB. Staley has frustrated me with his defense's poor play in the first half of games (that needs to change), but the players were the ones who failed to execute on 3rd and 22.

If you had questioned whether Staley is up to snuff I'd be fine with that man. The jury is definitely out there with a mix of good and bad thus far. But you said giving that up means he's not NFL material which is ridiculous.

But anyway. Not really worth going back and forth about is it. Cheers.

Regardless of an amazing comeback, and 32 points, the 35 allowed by the D and the loss column is just gut wrenching and that is all that matters.......Unacceptable !!! And stop wasting effing time outs Coach ! Loving our O....Once again expecting our D to implode and break our hearts.

Yea its tough to blame the DC when it's a blown coverage. That falls on the players. Criticize the game plan yes, the conservative calls, and not bringing any pressure on those 3rd down plays when we've been struggling in zone coverage all day. Those are things to criticize but if you look back at both of those plays it was our safety play that failed us. Something that we all came into the year feeling great about has faded quickly. JJ has not played well at all through 3 games, and Rapp has been a liability. How a 6th round pick is your best safety after 2 NFL games is beyond me when you have Rapp and JJ.
