Totally agree that we need a CB1 and it's so baffling why we ignored the area but here we are. Unfortunately I think we need more than that. We need a CB1 and another corner with length. I know you mentioned Taylor and that is definitely possibility if we get a CB1 before him. Biggest concern I have with him is just making sure that we don't break the bank for him. JSN definitely abused us more than we needed to be, however I saw a lot of open receivers in our soft zone as well. Maybe you're right and maybe the type of coverage we play may change with the CB1. I'd also say I want a true middle linebacker that can play from sideline to sideline and cover the pass for the underneath stuff.
Fortunately for us this is a deep draft at CB and ILB. We could come out of the first with a day 1 starter at both positions.

That’s a reasonable thought.

I took a quick look at the CBs selected at the end of Round One (if the Rams had not traded out); and those drafted in the Second Round, where the Rams took Ferguson.

Not sure that I see any that would have made a difference this season. Maybe Trey Amos who went to Washington late in the 2nd.

But I understand the thought.
Honestly as much as I like seeing Ferguson play and think he's going to be good, I was one of the few that still wanted Luther Burden. That dude is going to be really good once he puts it together. On the DB's, I think the thought is that we draft one high and hopefully our coaching cultivates that player into an even better player. Would be nice to get one with size and length plus speed. If We can roll out the same offense and improve the talent on defense on the back end, that would be awesome. However I suspect teams Will counter by trying to hit us with all the underneath stuff. We need a good sideline to sideline linebacker with coverage skills. Speights isn't it and Landman is too slow in coverage.

Do not disagree about an up-grade at off-ball-LB. However, I think that's more of a Luxury than Need.

I agree that Landman is limited (I would say he's average) but most ILBs are limited in coverage; and Landman's extension pays him like a three-down-backer. If Darious Williams is let go (I expect that happen), Landman is currently scheduled to have the 3rd highest cap-hit among the Rams' defensive players.

Also agreed with you on Luther Burden (Ticky's grandson!). After Cornerback, I think the Rams' biggest Need is another Wide Receiver. Nacua and Adams are plenty, provided they do not miss games. When either is out, the Rams' wide receiver group is lacking, in my opinion. Adams is getting old; and the Rams were lucky (IMO) that Nacua was healthy for most of the season. The way he plays, durability should not be assumed.

Sorry watching Speights and Landman try to cover TEs and RBs is enough proof we need to upgrade the position. Also that rushing td late never should have happened.

I didn't expect a TE with their initial pick last April ... So maybe you're right.

I know you like to think of me as Perfect ... and, I hate to disappoint you ... I'm not ... I am better than @Loyal!

The only thing they needed to figure out was we have nobody to cover JSN. We lack a CB1 and have for a long time.
He left Williams on that nine route like he was standing still.

Also first thought was where the fuck was the safety, because there's no way Shula would call it that way with that matchup.

Williams has had a decent career but he is well on the other side of his quality years.
I don't think it will take a complete overhaul but just too many mids.

We need 2 new CB's and one of them needs to be our best player in the secondary.

Forbes, McCreary ( I have no idea if this guys has anything to offer from the sample size) or even Durant teamed with 2 upgrades may be enough. If I was being greedy I may want an upgrade @ SS too.....but
We have to be realistic about cap and it's not only defense that we need to use cap space on

Not sure what that has to do with anything but yeah I'd agree they are.

I think they’re plenty good enough, especially with the typical weight the Rams put in the position.

CB is the weak point imho and with the way the Rams draft in bunches, I’m hoping for several draft picks including a 1st used on the position

Will be interesting to see if Styles is on the board at 13. I've seen him listed quite high, but ILB designation might allow him to be sitting there for us.

I don't think Styles is a rare ILB or anything. But he has that short area quickness and he's rangy as hell, so he'd upgrade us in space vs running QBs.

Reeder and Rozenboom are good enough and as good as Landman and Speights? Or Landman and Speights are good enough at covering RB and TE like most ILB are required to do? Please specify
