God how many more years do we have to endure with Luis Perez?

I’d rather have Rosie Perez.

IIRC Jourdan said the last time he was with the Rams was 2018

IDK seems like he’s been around forever
Well he was first here forever ago but it seems from his wiki page he's not been back since 2018. I agree though a fresh face would be preferable.

Yawn.....IMO Wolford isn't much better than Luis. The last time Wolford played he looked like a JAG. IMO the only legit backup is Perkins, bigger, faster, better arm than Wolford.

You have to wonder if Perez has a decent camp if he replaces Wolford and makes it to the PS while Wolford is released.

Perez did not look great in this seasons USFL. Maybe he will "play up" to the NFL level.

Camp arm= guy who throws to UDFA WR/TE in camp, guys down in the 8-10 range on the depth chart. Will see time in PS games in mop up time
Literally ZERO chance to make team

True the last part is the key. We have 1 camp arm and 2 guys vying to be backup. All three will take the bulk of the work to keep our vet QB fresh throughout camp.

You're right it appears that Wolford does have a superior arm over Perkins. I was shocked to see many of Perkins deep balls float as you so eloquently communicate. There are some things to like about Perkins, his legs and he appears to offer quite a bit from the neck up and is a good leader, but I hope to see some improvement on his deep ball because as another poster pointed out about Perkins, he a noodle for an arm.

Overview
Dual-threat quarterback lacking desired footwork and fundamentals from the pocket, but the results were often better than the aesthetics. Perkins has adequate arm strength and a very sudden release. He is at his best in a quick read-and-throw scheme that allows him to find a rhythm early in the game. His process tends to break down too early when tasked with working through progressions and his sack total suffered because of it. He's a capable play extender and runner, but he's not as fluid or natural with his open-field movements as he might need to be if a team has designs on transitioning Perkins to another position.
Strengths
  • True dual-threat quarterback
  • Good size with athletic build
  • Release is compact and sudden from pocket or in RPOs
  • Zone-read and boot-action potential puts defenses on their heels
  • Adequate arm strength to drive the football into the seams
  • Productive passer in both seasons as starter
  • Plus athleticism to scramble and extend the play
  • Put it in the paint 20 times as a rusher since 2018
  • Scouts say he's open to a position change if need be
Weaknesses
  • Heavy percentage of throws were short and predetermined
  • Struggles badly when he loses his rhythm
  • Gets away from his slate of progressions way too early
  • Quick to drop his eyes and look for the exit with average pressure building
  • Footwork fundamentals as passer in need of correction
  • Disappointing intermediate and deep accuracy
  • Tightness in lowers limits wiggle in open field
  • Took an extraordinary number of potentially preventable sacks

Neither are a long term solution as a #2 both are very limited. Wouldn't be shocked to see somebody added next off season.

We could add Jared Goff next season when Detroit cuts him!
