I have a few thoughts about various players discussed in this thread…

We shouldn’t rely too much on Higbee. In fact, I’m a bit surprised that he was extended in the 1st place. Experience and leadership, maybe? Anyway, I think the kids are gonna push him out the door as far as snaps go.

Davis Allen is generally being criminally underrated and is a necessary piece in that TE room. Rams love him.

Gonna be hard to let Parkinson get away next offseason but Rams may not have much choice cap-wise. I loved watching Parkinson make play after play this last season.

Ferguson got a wake up call with the Klare signing. He’d better improve his drop rate PDQ or risk losing snaps to others.

Klare sure sounds like a gem, possibly a steal, even. I have high hopes for this young man.

If a Villari or some other new TE steps up and pleasantly surprises this season then that’s just pure gravy. Don’t laugh, it could happen. Pundits are saying that Rams did exceedingly well with UDFA’s this year. Sooo…

Scott Huff, the Rams TE coach has been doing a magnificent job developing this entire TE room. Many consider it now to be the best TE room in the league. Huff might be worth his weight in gold. Certainly not getting the credit he deserves, imo.

Obviously, a QB like Stafford can turbocharge TE growth, as well. Rams are a great landing spot for an aspiring and talented TE, that’s for sure. Rams are truly blessed with a loaded roster and each piece has a positive ripple effect on all the others. It’s hard to assemble such a roster in this day of the cap limitations, but if done it’s a beautiful thing to watch the symmetry of all those moving parts.

Clearly, we are gonna continue to see diminished 11 personnel and more and more 13 personnel until the league catches up. Currently, it is almost unstoppable with this OL, QB, and McVay’s scheming.

About the WR room. I think we all recognize that this could be Adams last year. I’m hopeful that the Daniels kid will become WR 3 by second half of season this year, but a WR2 will probably have to be drafted next offseason for sure. I’d prefer NOT to trade for an expensive vet either this or next year. A cost effective WR from next draft seems far more sensible to me.
Well where do I start ?

I’ll go basic for me.

Really looking like Klare,he can be moved around & has to be accounted for out of every spot. That will put extra pressure on Defenses. There is NO TE on The Rams that does that.

Ferguson is more of a WR type of TE.He will add miss matches.Your right about his catch radius. He needs to make more plays.IMO not having Stafford healthy & his injury during Trainiing Camp Hurt!!! He seemed to take steps backwards.

Mumpfield has the same type of upside going into his 2nd season. They both had a Taste of Big Time Games.

Parkisian (Adams)as a Ram has been solid, but he is replaceable.Next season is next season,SO let’s wait & see ?? There are going to be a lot of mouths to FeeD ! Especially if The Rams go to the show.

Huff was better than the OC with Houston.Mcvay acknowledged it & The TE room is totally different NOW !!

The competition at TE this year in camp is going to be unreal. Can't wait. Thinking about catching that first preseason game in KC.
You have the fab five in Parkinson, Higbee, Ferguson, Allen & Klare. Plus some decent UDFA's in Mark Redmon, Dan Villari & Rohan Jones. Should be quite the competition under TE Coach Scott "Scooter" Huff.

Yeah it's unbelievable how far we've come at TE. Wasn't too long ago many of us were pining for TE additions and now that room is loaded.

But I think one thing we need to happen this season is the emergence of one of these guys as an elite weapon. As great as it is to have a room full of hard workers to run those 12/13 sets I would trade that for a truly elite TE in a heartbeat.

To the UDFAs though it's crazy how good the Rams did at TE. Jones I think ended up undrafted because he's not explosive, and the quality of that TE class. In a normal year I think he gets drafted. Villari was because he's a conversion, but what a conversion project he is. If those dudes compete well in preseason the cutdowns for that room are going to be rough.

Also and btw I would put Villari in the backfield on ST for the punt team, for purposes of trick plays. I think he might carry his roster weight on that alone along with his upside.

I’m optimistic on your fab 5 for 2026. But looking forward and seeing the strong possibility for no Higbee, Parkinson or DAdams in 2027.

I think vets like Higs and Adams are likely to sign year-to-year deals and hang around as long as Stafford is here. Obviously, provided they're still productive.

I don't get the rush to unload Higbee. He's still an excellent route runner and blocker. And we hear how great his is in the locker room. More TEs means less wear and tear on the 33 year old.

I think some fear that they could miss out on the upside of one of these UDFA's, if they get poached during cut down and never make it to the PS. Then Higbee gets hurt again this year and retires at the end of the season.

I guess that's understandable, with how often UDFA's end up being stars. Like worrying about a major earthquake, breaking California off into the Pacific. It could happen so we should worry about it. :laugh2:

Not stars, but functional contributors to even quality starters. This team has a few. Look at our LT. So not sure why that's funny?

It's probably because he's only played in 13 of the last 34 regular season games.
But, McVay says he's a glue guy so......

What's funny is it (UDFA starters or stars) doesn't happen all that often. We have 3 (three) UDFA starters on our roster.

Alaric
Shelton
Speights.

Many fans want those last 2 to be replaced asap, so yeah, it's funny when fans latch onto some UDFA and say he could be a starter, why keep the established vet? Makes little sense to me.
