I think it's a rule , Rams have to draft a TE every year
But don't worry , if you don't like this one , they'll draft another one next year

27 TE room is likely minus Higbee, Allen and maybe Parkinson as well,Nah, Parkinson has a stranglehold on the Y spot AND he deserves it.
No doubt. It's crazy how it wasn't very long ago we were wanting them to take TEs to add those big weapons to the pass game. So I'll never complain about picks like this one. These are the types who are worth their weight in gold in the playoffs and biggest games.I think it's a rule , Rams have to draft a TE every year

Possibly, I do see us shopping ala Demarcus this June 1st with still a very outside shot at AJ.That's why I still see a need at Wide Receiver.
I'll give McVay and Snead a call.
Seriously though ... at the risk of being assaulted by the ROD Mob ... any chance free agent Juan Jennings comes-down some from his reported high-asking-price?
I can see that... think Ferg offers something in the length and long speed that Klare doesn't but Klare has that YAC ability in spades. From what I've seen, Klare's draft profile rates higher than Fergusons. Most seem to grade him as the superior prospect.
I hope so. I’d like to see more positive plays in his rookie season than I did with Ferguson. From what I've seen, Klare's draft profile rates higher than Fergusons. Most seem to grade him as the superior prospect.

I know, I know, “TE is a hard position to learn at the NFL level” but every year we see a couple guys who play with impact right away.
This will be the THIRD TE taken in the 2nd round in the McVay era. Let’s see some impact.
You keep saying that Adams doesn't want to "take punishment" or that he doesn't want to run across the middle. He has an 85% success rate on dig routes (Matt Harmon, Perception Reception) in the last few seasons, constantly runs them with us and eats up defenses there. I do think he's lost a step. Maybe he even shies away from contact a little more than in the past but I just haven't seen it.No doubt. If we had a legit backup to Kupp to handle business vs the Cheatriots we probably would have won that title. Not having Kupp killed the offense. We really didn't have that last year either when Puka went down, as Ferg wasn't ready to provide it and Adams doesn't want to take the punishment. McVay's scheme seems to run on that slot threat.
Yep, was just thinking about how each fit. Ferg was surprisingly a very good blocker last year.I can see that... think Ferg offers something in the length and long speed that Klare doesn't but Klare has that YAC ability in spades.
Rams think Fergy can handle Y and his future may be there (I thought he was only ever going to be an F) but if he can handle Y and Klare can handle F I don't really care about 11 personnel that much. Yes we'll be doing some great things in 13 but our 12 personnel will absolutely explode.
I was so focused on WR for this team, I didn't look at any TEs, love this kids potential. He'll take time to develop but if he gets a full camp I see a significant role for him next year.
I think it's fair to say that Fergy - even at a spot that takes time - was somewhat underwhelming in his first season but I cannot stress this enough, he missed time in camp.I hope so. I’d like to see more positive plays in his rookie season than I did with Ferguson.

We have seen time and time again, any rookie offensive player that misses even 48 hours in camp during the summer gets set back quite a bit their first year in this offense. The amount of work that gets done and re-install and then time on task day in and day out in camp is absolute gold - you just can't miss any with this offense.
Still irked with the Eagles swooping on Stowers. But I knew he wasn't gonna make it to our round 2 pick so if it wasn't the Eagles it would have been another team. And Klare's a nice alternate. Wish his 40 was faster but he looks fast on film and LB/S types are gonna fuckin hate him in this offense.I think a lot of the teams that selected tight ends in the second round are going to be kicking themselves for passing on Klare.

Yes Stowers is an all around weapon. But if the Rams would have taken him he'd be insurance for Puka missing time. Where he'd slot up in that event and move the chains, or if he's good enough push for playing time in that slot. Klare is very similar in that respect.I like Stowers (and fuck the Eagles), but honestly, I see him more as a big receiver type, which I think he would excel at. I don't think he has the chops at blocking edge rushers to stick at tight end for very long.
As for Sadiq? Never liked him and would've been highly disappointed with him at #13; he really looks like he's simply an athlete playing tight end, and he doesn't know the nuances.
As far as true tight ends who have it all? Klare was my top choice; I just didn't expect the Rams to take another second-round tight end when they already took Ferguson and have Higbee, Parkinson, and Allen. I'm fine with the pick, and I assume we're trading one of Allen or Parkinson; I doubt we stick with five tight ends.

Lot of the TEs are not in play to do that. Some, like Ferg for example, are athletic enough to develop to do that. But the ones who show that weapon over the middle and smooth receiving ability early tend to do best in the NFL in that move role in the slot. Lions took LaPorta practically in McVay's face, and he's basically just a bigger Kupp in that slot role. So I think that's what McVay has been looking for it's just hard to find them where we always pick.
So if Klare can show quickly maybe that allows Puka to play at Z a bit more and not get beat up as much over the middle. He'll still get a lot of action and take hits as that's his play style, but sharing that load with a young move TE is not a bad thing. I'd love to hit the playoffs with both him and Adams in good health.
