Pondering the Rams happiness with the last drafts 5th rd selection of NT Ty Hamilton 2025 performance?

He appeared in just 2 regular season games played 14 snaps ended the season with 2 tacks 11 assist.
Hamilton played in 14 games ... averaged about 10 snaps-per-game.

I don't necessarily agree with that. Hamilton was a decent run-stopper last year, and he's got a year in the NFL now. Remember that Tyler Davis didn't set the world on fire his rookie year and improved his second year.

TK3 has a chance to be better, but I don't think Hamilton stinks as of now. We'll see when preseason and potentially the regular season starts.
Nah, don't do my man Tyler Davis like this. He had 19 run stops in 200 run defense snaps in his rookie season. That 10% run stop rate was top 5 in the ENTIRE league.

In limited snaps, and his pass-rushing wasn't there either. Hamilton showed what he could do in - what OS rightfully said - was a miscast position. He wasn't outstanding, he wasn't good, but he wasn't terrible either. Another year to bulk up and learn from our coaches would likely do him wonders. It's unlikely that we don't have six defensive linemen on the roster.

We weren't talking about pass rushing. We're talking solely about run defense. Davis had the aforementioned 10% run stop rate and a low 5.6% missed tackle rate. Hamilton had a 4.4% run stop rate and a 11.8% missed tackle rate.

I'm sorry, but Hamilton was poor last year in run defense. Fact. Maybe he was in a miscast position. Hope they get that straightened out....for his sake. Keenan is coming for his job as the backup NT.

Murchison is the 6th DL right now.

Murchison is not the sixth DL. I'm sorry, I don't know what the Rams see in him. Hamilton is at least young, going into his second year, and we dealt a fourth-round pick this year to get him. Murchison is what he is: an okay pass-rusher who doesn't really do much of anything else.

I'd rather stick with the guy on the rookie contract than Murchison.

Key words I said were "right now."

Murchison may end up being the 6th DL. The Rams aren't going by your preferences, and of this moment, he's listed as the 6th DL on their website.

Perform or get cut. Hamilton, Murchison, and Keenan can fight it out. It's super early, but as of this moment, two of those three probably make the roster.

I agree. I think Murchison isn't the guy who makes the roster. I believe in Hamilton's ability to improve when he's not miscast as a nose tackle at his then height and weight, when he gains more good weight in the NFL, and takes a leap like Tyler Davis did (which, while he was good in his rookie year, he jumped up in the following year).

I'm hopeful that Hamilton makes a sizeable jump in his second year. He'll need one to survive. I was mostly just piping up to say he was pretty bad last year.

I know he wasn't great. That's the only thing I'll push back with; he did well for being miscast and learning multiple different D-line positions, and a second year will do wonders for him. I'm willing to admit I'm wrong if he's cut, but I think he wins that job over Murchison. Keenan can back up Poona in his rookie year, and that's perfectly fine. I love the Keenan pick; I just want to push back on the Hamilton haranguing.

Hamilton has a world of physical talent.. much more than Keenan.. but he's got to put the work in to take advantage of those tools.

Rams DL will be facing 2027 UFA's of Turner & Johnson. A turner departure will hurt badly.

I'd rather lose Johnson, Dotson/Avila and Agent Zero than Turner. Turner should be a priority to re-sign.

I like this, can’t have too many big run stoppers. Glad they added to this group with what looks like another late round gem.
