When the Rams rolled out the new uniforms Ferguson was among the players they used in the promos. Sounds like they see him as an emerging player in 2026.
McVay said the other day that had the Rams not traded-down from 26-to-46 last year, they would have selected Ferguson at 26.

That had been suggested and suspected but it was the first time I heard McVay acknowledge it.

I would have hated that pick at 26. Ferguson does not show enough to be a first round pick. Even in the second round, I think he was too high. Maybe he will change my mind this year or the following year. It usually takes one probably two years before a TE gets up to speed.

I would have felt the same way. I was locked-in that Thursday Night before the Rams traded-down but Terrance Ferguson was not even on my radar as a potential pick for the Rams at #26.

However, for me, it's simply another example that the current Rams decision-makers (McVay and Snead) think and strategize Out-of-the-Box, Proactively and Uniquely MORE than any other organization in the NFL.

For that reason, I don't get caught-up in what they WILL DO because that's a total waste-of-time.

Don't get me wrong, I pay attention and read-up on the top prospects and free agents; and I am always checking their salary-cap situation. However, when it comes to Speculation on What they Will / Should Do?

Yeah, the Rams have their own, specific, unique draft board in my opinion. It's the reason why they always get poor draft grades (LOL) soon after the draft ends. Always get like a C- or something, who CARES??? Just keep giving me Kobie Turner, Byron Young, Puka Nacua etc and ill gladly take the "C" Draft Grades by the "experts."

BTW, the Jets have gotten like 5 "A's" in the last 5 years or something.

Oh true. Was not trying to imply we're infallible. Also i believe we've changed our methods greatly since those drafts. Starting with the great 2023 Draft.

And 2024 was awesome as well.

2025 is still a work in process but I have high hopes for Ferguson Steward and even Hunter. Last year was basically a redshirt year for Hunter. We will see if he learned anything this year.

Have to disagree ... 2022 was Not a 'poor draft'.

The Rams did not have a pick in the top-100 players; and, while Bruss was a bust, Williams and Lake were outstanding late round picks in the 5th and 6th rounds. And, while I was never a Cobie Durant fan, he was a solid and productive player for a late fourth round draft choice.

Always ready to disagree with your own point...:eyeroll:

Bruss, an easy pick to forget!

And consider the #1 pick went towards the Stafford trade.

Didn't see Lake so you are right it was a decent draft.

Only saw Kyren

Durant was just a so so CB so I put him in the below average range.

I like to Cover ALL the Bases.

Seriously though, I didn't think my post was inconsistent with my previous and original post on the topic, which was that the Rams decision-making and strategy is proactive, creative and out-of-the-box; and, therefore, unpredictable. And ... that applied to more than just how they approach the draft.

Still, it's very possible that ...

He also mentioned it after the pick last year.
I didn’t think he was specific and absolute in his comment.

My recollection was that he suggested Ferguson could have been the pick at #26, and that he was one of the players the Rams were looking at but they were comfortable with the move down because they believed there would be targeted players still there at #46.

Then again, I don’t know if I remember what I had for breakfast yesterday.

Also I have to admit 2021 was not a completely bad draft since we got Ernest Jones who was good for us for a couple years and Akers who might have been really good if he didn't hurt his Achilles.

Or the Rams media interns are enamored by the way he fills out the uniform.

Since we traded a 1st for McDuffie in 2026, does that trade factor in the 2026 draft evaluation? Or the 2025?

Certainly you have to include it in one of them. Otherwise of course the drafts look a bit weaker. I’m just not sure which draft year since it covers three years (mostly 2025 & 2026, but also 2027 3rd)

Since it was our original pick - I would say it reflects 2026 which means it is an A draft no matter who else we picked imho
