Sooo…. We traded the rest of our draft to move up 10 or so spots in round 6? Yeah only 2 7ths and our 6th but….
Remember we can only carry 53 people into the season anyway. Most of those late draft picks will be cut.
In a way, it shows they feel very comfortable with what they have and they want to develop what they have. We'll have plenty of role player potential guys and players the Rams want to see in camp, and look at in the UDFAs.

Most??? Not with Rams. 6th and 7th Rounders routinely stick. Mumpfield recently....

NFL wide, most of those 7th rounders will be cut. Mumpfield is a relative rarity and he might not even make it on to our 53 this year. His spot might have just been drafted.
They made it clear they're pretty happy with our linebackers after adding one free agent. They made it pretty clear they're happy with their safeties as well. Like I said, I see it as a confirmation that they like what we have and they want to spend camp developing those guys. What position would you want to flood with quantity to take up a spot on the 53?

Our 6th and 7th Rounders this year both should stick. But we'll see..

And i SAID, as far as RAMS go, not League-wide.

And this was true even of our drafted players.
You put together a hell of a roster and we boosted it really good in the off-season with the two corners and the linebacker. And now we've plugged a few holes in the draft. I just don't see any room for a lot of late rounders or UDFAs making this very solid roster we have.
I know we're going to have 90 guys in camp we have to pare down to 53.
I like the fact that they feel good about our roster and want to give those 53 guys the reps.

I look at it this way in regards to who needs to be replaced at each position. This is active roster, not practice squad which will be full of some of these UDFAs.

CB 1-2
So far the CB room was replaced already in FA. Still more room there for any of these UDFAs or camp cuts etc... to knock off another vet or two.

LB 1
Reeder needs to be replaced, may have been already by the FA they signed.

DL 1-2
Murchison should be replaced, Des Johnson fighting for a spot

QB 1
Simpson replaces Jimmy G

RB 1-2
Ronnie Rivers should not be here. Hunter? Who knows?

OL 2-3
The depth can change... Humphrey is gone, Limmer has to fight for a position, etc...

WR 2-3
Atwell is gone, Xavier Smith, and maybe Mumpfield fighting for a spot.

TE 1
Never can have enough

So this adds up to maybe 9- 13 new guys, and that's not much turnover in today's NFL. That's not counting the two new CB's or the LS.

The Rams only had two picks today ... Daniels in the 6th and Keenan in the 7th.

There are only 5 WRs (Nacua, Adams, Whittington, Mumpfield and Smith) with experience in front of Daniels, so he figures to have an excellent chance to make the 53-man-roster. Usually the Rams keep at least 6 WRs but with 2-to-3 dozen TEs, they might just go with five WRs. Even so, Daniels could make the 53 over Smith.

There are only six experienced DL on the roster, and the 6th is Murchison. Keenan could push him off the 53. Poona Ford is the only DL over 315, so Keenan could be the back-up to him.

I'm thinking both Daniels and Keenan make the 53.

I like our WR depth going into camp.. .. Whittington.... Mumfield... X... CJ Daniels... Tru Johnson...Brennan Pressley....... It will be interesting how this plays out...

Seems like more of what we have. But it's a late round pick so whatever, and I'm just irritated the Steelers got my preferred player there.

PFF had him ranked 118 on their board so this is a solid pick this deep into the draft.

I wanted a returner but the two players I liked in particular had both been taken earlier than I thought they would

I have always liked him but was put off a little because I thought we would take a WR before and couldn’t see more than one making the team. He’s not a burner but has some great attributes. Snead is on record as saying that later round picks need to have one or two strong traits even if they are lacking athleticism and CJ absolutely fits that. He’s yet another player who battled his way on to a top program where he proved he belonged. Can he do the same here? Ordinarily I would bet on him but it might need to be via the practice squad

Adams
Puka
Whittingdon
Mumfield
Smith (returner)
CJ

With all the TEs, and a rookie QB, can we keep 6?

I am a little gutted we didn’t tab some lightening in a returner but perhaps I am missing something?

My biggest concern is we no longer have a burner at WR which has allowed defenses to sit our intermediate routes - the Seahawks especially - even we are so good at it that we remain productive

On another note, how was Deone Burks still available at the back of round 7? There must be some serious red flags! He was Steve Smiths no3 WR if im not mistaken

They took Kaden Wetjen in round 4! I could not believe that but he will be an ace returner and could also feature in their screen game. I thought we had a chance of drafting him ourselves but other teams clearly value returners more than us!

One thing that might have been missed is that CJ was timed much faster at his pro day

4.47 is a great time at his height and weight!

CJ Daniels, a wide receiver out of Miami (formerly Liberty/LSU), has produced conflicting speed times, with reports of a 4.47-second 40-yard dash at his pro day

If one looks at how the season went and how it finished last year, you can see what was needed. CB play was abysmal. It forced Shula to change the pass rush scheme based on the inability to cover well. In the game Humphries filled in for AJ we saw a major drop off at LT. Adams missed a stretch and we don’t know where Nacua’s head is gonna be this year. Those were the three most glaring issues going into this offseason and then the draft.

One way or the other they made an effort to address those issues.

Then there’s all of the looming contracts and the timeline regarding Stafford. Like you said, we can only carry 53. The Rams must feel a sense of adequacy with their PS players in that they can hold the fort if needed.
