Well, Ty is not Peyton at this point. Peyton did have a reputation for "good happy feet" as taught by his college coach.
However, generally, happy feet are a sign of nervousness i.e. the following:
"A bad habit where a QB bounces, shuffles, or moves their feet too much without a clear purpose. It usually means the player is nervous, seeing ghosts, or rushing their throw. "
"Footwork that breaks the timing between the quarterback's eyes and the receivers, causing missed targets."
To the contrary:
"Calm/Active Feet: Controlled, subtle adjustments (like a smooth hitch or slide) that keep the passer balanced and ready to strike."
Now, I have no idea if what he is doing works well. As I stated, his throws are nice. But when i see a lot of movement, I take note. Former pro QBs comment on it all the time while announcing NFL games. I'm sure the QB coach will work it out if it is an issue (and I am not suggesting it is). Just a casual observation.

I think there's a body language component to it as well. Happy feet is not an easy thing to define, but I do think most fans know it when they see it.
Re: Simpson this is his first camp. So I don't care if he's got happy feet while he's trying to learn how to get the offense out the huddle and lining up right. It's gonna take some time for him to learn this offense.
Hopefully the first preseason game he steps up in the lights. By that time if he looks scared of the rush there will be concern among the faithful. But it's not like a rook playing bad in a preseason game is a problem. It happens. Whether he succeeds or fails or ends up a QB2 in this offense is going to take a long time to play out.

Peyton Manning had "happy feet," Tom Brady didnt. Its like saying somebody's batting stance is better for offensive production. It's more or less meaningless. It comes down to the player, and the style he prefers.

Simpson is a great leader plus from the neck up coaches and players alike rave about him. Now, Ty just needs to soak it all in and stay away from Stetson Bennett. Joking, however, Bennett with his Harry Reems esq Stache looks more confident this year.
If Stetson Bennett is good for us this year thats only a good thing. Really dont mind if Ty redshirts.
I expect this is going to be a fun competition at QB2. Bennett wasn't a draft pick that I approved of. But the dude has managed to hang around this long on the roster, and he has a history of beating out better athletes in that position during his epic collegiate career. So I think it will be quite funny if he wins that QB2 role.
Also if that happens it means we should be in for very entertaining preseason games. And great work for the depth dudes on the roster. All of which is a win for us and the Rams.

I get the feeling Stetson is going to shine this preseason. That can only be good for the Rams.

Well I don't have a feeling either way. I just am looking forward to a great battle. Might end up looking like a cripple fight, or maybe it'll be highly entertaining. We'll see.
I still believe when it's all said and done Jimmy Garoppolo will come back to be number 2 and Simpson will get to learn from both and Bennett will either be cut or traded for a conditional pick.
I think your observation is a good one. I'm not overly worried about it, because I think Simpson is a good QB overall and he's relatively inexperienced as a starter. Still, I think you are correct in noticing this. Let's take a specific play as an example. Watch the play in this video. I chose it in part because the TV broadcast on the replay shows us the POV behind the QB.
On this play, Simpson feels the pocket starting to collapse, he extends outside to his right, then completes the pass. This is a good play. Or is it? IMO, all the QB has to do is slide slightly to his right and the WR in the slot that eventually throws the ball to was about to uncover. With less movement and being able to throw it earlier, the QB could have completed the pass. One of the dangers of doing this exact same play at the NFL level is the EDGE rusher to the right of the QB (jersey number 31) will retrace back to the QB and potentially cause a sack fumble. We don't want Simpson to take hits in these types of scenarios, we want the ball to come out of his hand quickly so that he finishes the play upright and clean.
So, if we're grading Simpson on this one play, IMO he's technically "late" with the throw. Again, I'm not really worried in the big picture. We're talking about a rookie QB. Just some small details where he could sharpen his game and continue to improve. Simpson is way better than most college QBs with his pocket awareness and movement.

The successor to Matthew Stafford as next Rams Franchise Quarterback. OR, traded for Burrow/Allen/Mahomes. Either way: Win: Rams.
Yes, I said Mahomes. Things are starting to get a little dysfunctional down in Kansas City/Kansas, wouldn't be surprised.
Rams, (mainly due to Sean McVay) are now the NFL version of the NBA-style dream team. Veteran Quarterbacks, as the ones mentioned, will want to play for this Offensive MASTER to get their first Ring (a la Stafford) or get more Rings (Mahomes).
Lets not forget, Hall Of Famer, Steve Young, in 2017, salivating at the chance to play Quarterback, under Sean McVay in his youth.
Couple more non-wins for Burrow/Allen, and a couple more rough years under past-their-primes Reid/Bieniemy for Mahomes, wouldn't be surprised if they beckoned for sunny L.A.
This is all if, and a BIG if, McVay feels he needs an upgrade from Simpson ( a la Goff), he may very well NOT.

Yes. Don't want to put the cart before the horse here. We NEED to win it all again in the Stafford era, first!
AND, am of the belief, Stafford possibly has 3-4 more seasons left with us.
