Linderbaum is projecting at $17m. That’s not an option for the Rams What other viable FA OCs do u see?
Why is that not an option for the Rams. Curious on your logic there. I am of the mind that they could sign whoever they want and I'd rather go get two top quality additions in let's say Linderbaum and Dean who can lock down their responsibilities than to fuck around and end up being bit by Shelton or some second or third rate corner addition in a big game.

For myself, I would say that locking down Center, which has been a pain in the dick for McVay over the past several seasons, and which cost us a title two playoffs ago in Philly, not to mention contributed to our dip in offensive efficiency with Shelton when he wasn't protected in '25, makes perfect sense.

Also if Stafford retires, who possesses full mastery over calls as it pertains to QB oversight, and we go to a younger QB, having a stud Center who can anchor our interior and provide strong line calls is massively valuable.

And lastly Linderbaum is young as hell, 25 years old with a bright future. Young stud anchor for the line at Center saves you money in allowing plug and play at the guard spots, as you're not needing to protect the pivot against NTs.

Anyway. Shelton requires a bit too much help for my liking. I'd be fine with the draft as well if that's what they choose to do, but it never seems like they can pull the trigger in that round 3 range where the best options usually are.

Also look at this OL for the 2026 run. Not saying it's givin me some chub, but, well, you know...

LT: Jackson
LG: Avila
C: Linderbomb
RG: Dotson
RT: McClendon

That's a goddamn OL right there son.

I’m in your corner. I think Linderbaum would make the Rams OL top three at worst. He not only improves the OC position but would strengthen the two OG positions since they will not have to help Coleman out so much.
My hesitation is $17 million is a lot more than I think the Rams would pay especially as they’re contemplating extending McClendon, Dotson and/or Avila.
In summary, I’m 100% in favor of going for Linderbaum as long as they address CB1 in FA first.

Another thought. Every $1 spent on offense is $1 not spent on a below average/underpaid defense.

I'm curious on where everyone feels the OL ranked this last year? It can be argued, by the numbers, that they already were a top 3 OL.

Don't get me wrong. I'm all for upgrading Shelton, but we already saw a massive improvement from 2024 to 2025 partially because of his addition.

There's a reason they wanted Shelton over Limmer. The line overall performed pretty good. And Shelton was part of that. I don't think he's as bad as you think. It would be nice to have 5 all pros on the line. But thats not possible.
I don't think Shelton is bad necessarily. What I think is he's a schematic liability. He's very good at calls, gets the five up front playing on one sheet of music for the most part. He's great in tandem too. But defenses that can isolate him on a physical NT can disrupt the pocket vs our offense.

And again nuance is required here. Signing the top FA at Center is what I'd do. Doesn't mean I think the Rams will do it. I'm just enjoying the thought of having a legitimately dominant OL for the 2026 season.

It is possible to have 5 all pros on the line. That would require Avila to play at a high level, but this would be a FA season for him if the Rams were to do what I suggest. With some luck on health, it is entirely possible this would be a line of epic quality.

Rams would then need to change out the guard spots. But my point in this conversation is to draw attention to the fact that this is in fact a very nice window to retool the OL, this offseason and next. So it makes me wonder what the Rams are planning. I am not interested in saying they can't do this or can't do that. Because if they have demonstrated anything with the cap it is that they can do whatever the fuck they want.

Whenever I see an old JAG OL I'm reminded of how awesome a unicorn like Big Whit was for us. And that LT on the whiners, hate to say his name, he's another rare one. Just won't go away. Keeps coming back like Jason.
