I will laugh even harder when I get to watch Aaron Donald abuse him.

I concede that Nelson looks to be a very good guard, but he should shut up about him being a good choice for teams that face the Rams and Aaron Donald, or the Eagles defensive line. He hasn’t played a down in the NFL.

As a Miami hurricanes fan, the week we played ND, all we heard about was their dominant offensive line, especially Nelson and their LT, I enjoyed nothing more than watching our defense absolutely abuse those two all game long...I think they are a tad overrated TBH

Haven't seen a ton of Nelson.
What I have seen he is very athletic but it seems looses his balance at times.

I take it he’s running his mouth about going head to head with AD?

How long has it been since a First Round OL'er played up to their first round investmenst & played close up to pro bowl level?

The only one I can recall is Zack Martin of the Cowboys back in 2014. Coming out College OL'ers have to stew long time (long adjustment period) before starting NFL ready no matter where they are drafted. By that time their 4 yr contracts are up & enter into UFA'cy.

Anyone else think of any?

As far as Nelson I am of the belief that he is not a good fit here & a OL'er like Isaiah Wynn or James Daniels fits what Kromer prefers now.

Travis Frederick played at a pro bowl level as a rookie.

But yeah, it's awful rare.

Ever sense the spread offenses have taken over the college ranks the OL have been a major draft liability in the first round. Once the safest 1st rd pick via position now it’s a crap shoot. Gotta draft pro style OL more than ever now imho

And even that level ain't enough to stop Aaron Donald. I'm not going to begrudge a kid for being confident, but talking about stopping Aaron Donald and actually stopping Aaron Donald are two very different things. Nelson hasn't played anyone near Donald's caliber.

Meh he’s just mentioning the best in opposition which is AD99. Can’t fault him for that. Would love to see AD rip his ass up and down the field in a 49ers jersey though! Haha :D

I'd rather not see him in a 49ers jersey. Hopefully, the 49ers do something stupid with their top 10 pick.

He is basically saying that he would be a good pick for any team facing a good interior rush. He specifically mentions Donald and the Rams, and the Eagles.

No. He's suggesting a team picks him so he can negate Donald or the Eagles and Fletcher Cox. At this stage it is best for some humility. He hasn't played a down in the NFL yet he thinks he is a good match for the best Dlineman in the game.

If he thinks his words will convince a team to take him, he's mistaken. They'll take whomever is highest on their board. Unless it's the Browns, who took Manziel because he called them and told them to.

Cant fault him for being confident, but as McVay says the NFL will humble you quick.

I have did a complete flip flop on how I prefer the Rams to securing OL'ers.

For decades I was a strong advocate to drafting OL'ers in the 1st & 2nd days of the draft & never sign any over priced Free Agents.

Now I advocate signing UFA's who have starting experience that are relatively healthy, knowing you will signing an overpriced OL'er. I prefer left side OL'ers to right side Ol'ers too. The time for letting high drafted OL'er under the usual four year contract...... stewing on the sideline bench for 2 to 3 seasons before they are ready to compete is a waste of salary cap funds. 3rd day drafted OL'ers salaries are econo valued & you don't have much $$$ stewing on the sideline or in street clothes watching from the sideline ready to start just as they hit free agency after their 4th year.

I would focus my 1st & 2nd day draft selections on defensive players where they usually are ready to play & make quick fast dividends on the playing field. This Wade defense is made for todays NFL & my way of thinking.

Someone asked him why he should go early in the draft. He was saying with guys like Fletcher Cox, Geno Atkins, Aaron Donald running wild, there should be more of a premium on players like him, because that's where the need is. He sees what's going on, seems like a sharp kid.

It's more of a compliment to AD than anything if teams adjust their draft strategy because of what he's done in the league.

Curious.....how did Norton fair? I heard/read the Miami D-Line dominated in that upset....funny thing is, I was gonna watch that game...taped it...then saw it was a blowout and erased it...LOL

Part 1 - No, that's not what he's saying.
Part 2 - yes, actually he is (sort of). He's just trying to show confidence to erase any doubts a team might have about him and hopefully draft him higher. I don't see a problem with this.

The D-line in general destroyed them, I don’t believe Norton had much in the way of stats that game, but he and RJ Macintosh were way too quick for the guards and center, in the backfield literally almost every play...defensive ends and linebackers were cleaning up and getting all the stats.. Norton was doing his job and clogging the middle while creating pressure.

If he and Macintosh would have both stayed another year, they both would have been picked much higher than they will this coming draft. Norton is a big boy, and could potentially be a good late pick as he could be developed into a NT...
