It seems that the league tries to implement 50-75% of their recommendations every year to rules that are subjective to their referees who already suck and/or already steer the game a certain direction intentionally.

Hip drop is another one of those retarded ass rules they are trying to implement.

Man you're old.

They're all horrible plays that produce injury after injury.

.
There is no doubt I’m older than a lot of others but, there was nothing wrong with the game before Goodell and the greedy owners started fucking it up.

Players know the risks they take to play the game as a profession. If they don’t they are stupid. Same as cops, firemen and others who pit themselves in harms way every day. Except other people don’t get paid stupid amounts of money.

Don’t want to do that to your body, it’s their choice. Most of them have been gifted “higher” education and have been handed other opportunities if they were smart enough to take advantage of their great fortune.

The NFL is entertainment, they said it themselves. I couldn’t give two shits about most of them personally.

You're the first fan.....that wasn't an Eagle fan......I've heard say that. I'm not being a wise ass and I didn't take a poll but I live amongst them.

I do have Jalen Hurts on my fantasy team. So I'm a tad biased. But I don't see how its all that dangerous. A lot less dangerous then what slot receivers are asked to do in the middle of the field these days. I also think its hilarious that no other team can do it. I am a realist though, and I do believe it'll get banned this offseason. But its a shame to write a rule banning a play only one team knows how to do correctly.

1. Hip drop tackles - Tackler anchors his hips into the ground and will often twist the runner’s body at unnatural angles. I agree with this one, so does Sammy.

Kupp does as well:

2. Kickoffs - The League is looking to make changes to add excitement. To encourage more returns the NFL could tape respot the ball at the 20 to encourage more returns. Since many blocks have been made illegal, player safety has been increased.

3. Touchbacks on fumbles - I don’t think there is anything wrong with awarding the defending team a touchback for fumbles that occur in their end zone or beyond. However, the NFL may wish to increase scoring. Stay tuned.

4. Tush Push - As a Rams fan I hate this play as it is difficult to spot, there is a huge advantage for the offense, and some player safety is involved. In the high school ranks, it is illegal for players to assist a runner. I wish the NFL would get revert back to the HS rules.

What do y’all think?

Wanting it both ways on kickoffs...you've all but taken them out completely with the prior rule-changes in the name of safety. Not sure you get to do both...

I think many teams know how to do it, they can’t get to the advantage of the Eagles. I believe this is a play that will revert since it creates a huge advantage for the offense. I mean, the push is over 95% successful for the Eagles and maybe 80% for the rest of the league.

What of the NFL never called the holding the receiver rule after XXXVI? That gave the Bellicheats a huge advantage on defense in the big game.

How are players allowed to be assisted on other plays?
Well the rules may be against it but you can see it happening every week. Players are held up by defenders and linemen mostly cone from behind and push the pile forward.

I don’t mind the tush push at all. I like anything inventive that adds new dimensions to the game, especially when it can’t just be emulated by everybody in the league at will—that adds yet another dimension.

Reminds me of people who say the Rams “sold out” to win a SB—if it’s so easy let’s see your team do it.

The tush push is fucking bullshit and should have been banned already. It's not a real football play and definitely violates the spirit of the game.
Every team can now produce this on the off season with specific players.

It truly makes 3 or 4 and 1 obsolete.

And that obviously changes the game too much.

Give AD the ball with three massive D or O lineman behind him and I can't see how it gets stopped.

Kind of surprised this strategy hasn't been employed yet since Refrigerator Perry.

the NFL is about athletes doing amazing athletic things.

some people still want the violent, body-destroying game that kills many players after age 55

Those days are hopefully in the past

the problem with the tush push is its too big of an advantage to the offense...

If you find a way to assign 5 defenders to push the other side like a rugby scrum.

The QB can just take a step back and throw a touchdown.

You're fucked either way.

Pushing other players goes back to the rugby origins. Mauls were banned back when @Loyal played for his local YMCA, in 1910. I think it's stupid, but the name Tush Push is much worse.

'Tush Push' rule change: NFL will not propose banning controversial play for 2024 season

The "Tush Push" is here to stay ... at least for the 2024 season. NFL executive vice president Troy Vincent has confirmed that the controversial play will remain a legal play this season, via ESPN. Vincent added that there will not be a proposal presented this offseason that would attempt to ban the play.

While there isn't a strong push to ban it, the NFL will continue to monitor the play, according to CBS Sports lead NFL insider Jonathan Jones.

The "Tush Push" has become the NFL's most scrutinized play over the past two seasons. The play rose to fame in 2022 after becoming an integral part of the Philadelphia Eagles offense. The play helped the Eagles reach the Super Bowl that season while aiding in Jalen Hurts' setting a new quarterback record by running for 15 regular-season touchdowns. He had an additional three touchdown runs during the Eagles' Super Bowl loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

The league's current stance on the "Tush Push" differs from reports this past December that commissioner Roger Goodell wanted it out of the game. It appears that is no longer the case.

There are two reasons why the play has received push back. The play isn't safe as it often creates a pile, which increases the chances of injury. Many feel the play also gives the offense an unfair advantage as offensive players can push the quarterback forward. The Eagles had a 93.5% success rate running the play in 2022 and a 90% success rate in 2023, according to The Athletic.

While it has its detractors, the "Tush Push" will remain in the NFL in 2024, and it's up to the league's 32 defensive coordinators to come up with a way to stop it.

The Tush Push generates a buzz for the league. When no one cares anymore they’ll ban it.

I don't know about the hip drop thing. You have a big tight end or running back that doesn't go down easily you're trying any way you can to bring him down. Especially if they outweigh you by 60 pounds.
both teams get that advantage. it will lead to more scoring, exciting plays and heck may be that will lead to better tackling. may be...

It’s too easy and hard to detect when players are violating the rules on the tush push. The Eagles got away with it for an entire season and it took real scrutinizing on tape to see that they were false starting. It’s best not to allow a play that refs have trouble accurately calling legal.

It always seemed to me that the league allowed it because it was one of the media darling teams that started it. If it was a bottom tier team they likely stop it right away.
