So I'll be the first to admit that me wanting us to cut Stetson and sign Milton looks way off today. Milton has superb arm talent and is a prime development type of guy who could thrive under a coach like McVay...... but he is still lacking touch on his throws...

but today, was by far Stetson Bennet's best performance since college, and he affirmed the confidence the team has shown in him. I still think he at best a back up QB, but he showed that even that is a real possibility now. He was very and solid today.

It was great being back at SoFi...and looking forward to a really great season for us...

Now not to take one preseason game to deep but a few thoughts I've been expressing on here I feel even better about today...

like many....I would have preferred not to bring Tutu back for the price we did... for me it primarily that I've been saying Xavier Smith has more all-around upside that Tutu does. X's route tree is more expansive...he's a tougher receiver going after balls.... and what I loved about today is that even though his roster spot is challenged by Covey coming in, obviously X is ready to step up and keep his job.

Also.....Schrader ran great today... patient but powerful.... Rivers may be headed to the practice squad. Overall Corum and Hunter were solid as well..

Feel much better about our O-line depth now. They had a collective effort today to play some smashmouth....

Pooh Paul has a real presence on the field.... Elias Neal continues to make plays. Dolac looks good...even Fields played well. Overall a solid performance by our ILBs..... honestly I think we should move on from Reeder and keep these younger guys ..even stashing a couple on the practice squad.

It's always good to send Cowboy fans home dissapointed....

Some may not like this idea, but if the Rams like Hunter and Shrader enough, maybe
Corum has legit trade value. Trading a RB would be better than losing a good one to cuts. Corum still has name recognition and would be most likely to garner a decent draft pick.
What do you call decent? I can't imagine he would get you more than a 6th.

Okay, let me rephrase. Corum might bring the biggest return.
Maybe, the Rams don’t feel the same about the depth as you guys that watched the first preseason game. But often, when a team has a surplus at a position, instead of cutting good players, they try to trade them. A good return could be a trade with a team that has a few extra corners and they will have to cut a good a one maybe.

Besides we have too much of that Michigan stink on or team right now.:zany1: @Corbin

Konata and X man locked up the 5th and 6th WR spots.

RB is going to be interesting. I think it's likely we keep 4....but that Schrader ends up on the practice squad. McVay trusts Rivers in pass pro and he has been a solid special teams contributor.

Secondary impressed last night

It would appear, especially if he is injured, Rivers likely to be the odd man out at RB.
That said, he is a solid veteran player at this point and likely would get picked up if cut or put it on the PS.

Bennett has certainly improved, I don't even think his pick was bad. He forced it downfield but a PI certainly could have been called.
Really nice to see him progress.
He has the look (if he can continue to develop) as a long term back up option for the Rams.

I thought WR Brennan Presley popped. Deep group, but I like him for the practice squad. As to the Cody Schrader vs Ronnie Rivers. McVay does trust Rivers, but they kept Schrader last year for a reason, Schrader has more juice then the little River band plus can play on special teams too. I would keep Schrader because Rivers would more then likely go unclaimed versus Schrader.

Also kudos to Stetson Bennett as I believe I have been his biggest detractor. He showed poise and excellent decision making. Quite impressive and shout out to QB coach Dave Ragone as Stetson even showcased leadership for that group too.

To this point I would keep Schrader as well because he is a different type runner. The Rams need a change up.

I remember the Rams going 4-0 in Preseason and barely winning a couple of games during the regular season.

A great showing for our Rams all around. The O was very effective, especially in the 1st and 4th qtrs. The D started so dominant the refs had to throw a few extra flags to give them some work. The IOL depth looks to be a strength this season OT depth is still questionable. Still plenty of things to correct and grow from, this is going to be a fun season.
