Los Angeles Rams (last week: 30)
Losing to the 49ers once is bad. Losing to the 49ers twice in the same season is even worse. At least they’ll have a new (probably flashy) head coach to lead them next season.

From number 32 in the league to the number 4 team in the league?

Gee, I wonder who should be named coach of the year?

id even argue we should be #3 or #2 at this point. I think the only team that might be better than us is that nasty Vikings team. Their defense is crazy good.

2. Los Angeles Rams (11-4)
BROWNE: 2
MCCLYMONT: 3
SANDERSON: 2
SRINIVASAN: 2

Prevous Rank: 2nd

If Jeff Fisher wants credit for this year's Rams, he should also take a huge amount of blame for somehow turning MVP candidate Todd Gurley into just a normal guy. - Browne

2017 PFFELO NFL Power Rankings - Week 17
BY PFF ANALYSIS TEAM

Below is the 17th and final regular season installment of our weekly PFFELO rankings. Like all ELO systems, PFFELO is an iterative system that updates each team’s rating after each game based on two things: how well they played against their opponent and how well they were expected to play against their opponent.

The PFFELO rating system measures the former using our unique offensive, defensive and special teams grades, while the latter is determined by the PFFELO ratings leading up to the game and where the game is played.

For example, a heavy favorite playing at home is expected to outplay the visitor, so a victory would result in only a small rise in their PFFELO rating and a similarly-small decrease in the defeated team’s, but if an upset were to happen, the visiting team would see their PFFELO rating rise substantially, and the home team’s see a similarly-sized drop.

Sometimes in football the best team does not win, and PFFELO accounts for these oddities by using our grades. Hence there will be teams rated higher or lower in this system than their win-loss record would suggest.

LAST WEEK: 7
It wasn’t as glamorous as normal, but the Rams won a tough road game against a contending team last week on their way to their first division title since 2003, and the Los Angeles Rams’ first division title since before both of us were born (1985).

While that 1985 team’s running back (Eric Dickerson) ended up being a Hall of Fame player, this 2017 team’s runner has been every bit as good as his predecessor (even if the current Rams’ jerseys are not).

One of the topics of last week’s #WellActually, Todd Gurley has the highest receiving grade (93.6) among running backs through the season’s first 16 weeks, with his 2.15 yards per route run fifth among qualifying backs.
