Really? Let the Cards lose tonight and the Pirates win and you'll be able to figure it out. I understand though. The pressure is rising a bit.
 
Ah, Sum, u r right. They don't go by a tiebreaker for a division crown. There is a one game playoff. So 5 is the number for the Pirates for an outright crown. 4 gets a one game playoff for the NL Central.

The "magic number" is any combination of the leading teams wins and the trailing teams losses. Thus, there is no "magic number" for the trailing team...there is simply a specific amount of wins by the trailing team and specific number of losses by the leading team that would need to happen rather than any combination of the two.

Duh huh. I guess I need to use blue font more often. But in reality, when you are talking about only two teams, both have a number. It's just a simple way for dumbass baseball people to keep up with what's happening. (y)

Kind of puts the Cards in a tough position as to who to start today. But I think the Pirates sit Cole just in case they need him for a one game playoff against the Cards or the wildcard against the Giants. Pirates play first today though.

So much for what I think. Pirates going with Cole today. I guess they want to try and force the Cards to use Wainwright today. Risky move in my opinion.

Really surprised they went with Cole today..he is 0-1 with 7.50 ERA vs Cinn

but on the other hand,pretty sure he hasnt had much luck vs STL either this year 1-2 with a 3.42 ERA

got my Quality start from Bartolo Colon today...so Wano can sit out
