I should start a thread listing the top 10 back-up QBs to start for the rest of the season in the history of the NFL

I know the one that will be at the top

And no - it is not Brady (puke)

You aren't lying there......I think that's why we took so many edges. Hedging our bets to get a good one. I know we got some athletes too. Coaching em up is gonna be the key.

You have more doubts than myself with the Edge.
I’ll go down the list later, but IMO
Byron Young is going to add a PASS RUSH better than ANY RAM drafted since Ebukham.DE/OLB s
.
Floyd played well, but contract & upside. Even Donte Fowler got older. Yes Von Miller was AWESOME! This guy is going to get after it. I like a rotation of players & wonder if Raheem Morris puts that in place ?

The reason they drafted 3 edges is because they need them to fill out the roster.

Young: Somewhat raw but the talent is there. They have a high ceiling player on the edge. I see him replacing Floyd on the strongside.

Hampton: The reason Morris was dropping Floyd so often is that the Rams haven't had a SAM playing behind him since Ebukam left. Morris thought he could just fill it with a safety but it didn't work. So Hampton IMO is key because he not only can fill the SAM role behind Young, he can drop into that middle zone in a Tampa Two. Without Wagner, they don't have a coverage LB. Hampton can offer them a blitzer as well.

Mathis IMO replaces Keir Thomas in rotation with Hoecht. He's a better early down option at DE. Gives them better run support and pass rush if needed on early downs.

Nacua: It wouldn't surprise me if in OTAs he isn't looked at as a return specialist. He has the field vision for it.

Maginn is a mauler at OG who can also play center. If Bruss struggles at RG look for the Rams to turn to Maginn.

McAllister is a center who can double as a OG. He could be in the mix for the center spot in 2024. At the very least he projects to provide good depth.

This appears to be a very well thought out draft. Their UDFAs aren't conversion candidates as in previous years. These guys can all compete for a roster spot to provide depth.

@badnews congrats to you about your daughter's wedding. Before preseason and up to the draft, I was pretty sure we were sucking for "luck.' I don't feel that way today, because:

*most are great character guys who love football.
*All have skills but need good coaching to develop them
*It appears that we have good coaches led by Sean McVay
*Our top pick has the ability to shore up our Oline, which will make Jackson(LT), Allen, Akers, Stafford, Atwell and Kupp better
*I love, love, love the Steve Avila pick. I've thought the last three years that McSnead didn't value the Oline positions by taking a versatile guard/center high n the draft. I thought for sure we would take a skill position player that was new and shiny and not a meat and potatoes guy. Did I say I love it?

Now, it may be true that the season is lost early this year because too many games are lost before the midpoint of the season, waiting for the large number of rookie starters to play up to their potential. Cynically, it gives Snead a great excuse for a bad team performance in 2023, while also making our first, 1st round pick in many years very valuable in 2024. The big question for me will be if Snead will allow the 1st round pick in 2024 to be there for us....or will he trade it for a known quantity skill player for Stafford's benefit?

Thanks Loyal. This is exactly what I was looking for.
