I don't know if I trust Brown to get better. If it was a cheap deal with very low guaranteed salary I'd be OK with it.

I think we have a difference of opinion on Mr. Harbaugh's coaching ability.

I view him as top 7/8 in the NFL. Has helped turn the Chargers pretty quickly.

As far as Ford, Tart and BBIII . . . Ford and Tart have much more ability to rush the passer.
The Rams would be better with a DT that can stop the run and rush the passer.
He turned around a team that was 10-7 just two years ago? A team with a potential elite QB and some pretty nice pieces? Then his team gets bitch slapped in the playoffs by a pretty mediocre Texans team?

I’m not saying he’s not one of the top coaches in the NFL. But his team sure shit the bed yesterday.

But I question the idea that because he has two relatively cheap mediocre down linemen that had moderate success, we should somehow consider signing them simply because they were good enough for Harblow.

I have to guess that we also had a shot at them and went another direction. McVay is not infallible and they have certainly had misses. But I’m also going to guess that they have their eyes on a bunch of FAs but their criteria does not include - welp…Harblow picked them, so we better go after them.

So bottom line is that there really is no dilemma of, do we pick between Tart, Ford, or Brown. It’s a false premise based on flawed logic IMO.

I could get behind a discussion of down linemen that out performed their contract and played in similar systems or even just outplayed their contract and might be available. I just don’t buy into the “they’re good enough for Harblow” thought process.

BBIII is a solid first down run stopper. He's in on alot of plays. 44 tackles from a NT that only plays about 40% of the snaps is impressive.

If Brown is willing to return on an affordable deal, it's him. If not, Greg Gaines might be an option. We're looking to fill a specific role. Fiske is a penetrator. Turner is a do-it-all type. Brown is a big body who clogs the interior and (hopefully) keeps the LBs clean. Poona Ford isn't built for that role. Tart has bounced around a lot and was out of football last year. Might as well stick with the guys we know.

This. Though I really doubt this is a position that we ever pay, so I am guessing later round pick in the draft

I mostly agree but Tart did play last year.

I have the same concern; and that really makes it an Organizational Call because they have to determine whether he will continue to improve and develop.

One reason I hope the Rams retain Bobby Brown is Age.
Despite being in his 4th season, Brown is the same age as rookies Verse, Tyler Davis and Brennan Jackson. He's younger than Braden Fiske; plus, Brown is younger than 2nd year players Kobue Turner (by more than a year) and Byron Young (by more than two years).

Still, I don't expect them to re-sign him simply because so few of their drafted players get second contracts.
I hope that changes some this off-season because I don't like the free agent class.
