Poll: Rams Super Bowl legacy stuff

I watched a full game replay of SB XIV today. Damn that was a physical game and a good one.

Anyway, It got me thinking about what if’s and the Rams’ historic legacy and all that. The Rams are 2-3 in the big one.

Of course, those three particular games are heartbreaking losses. Gut punches.…but these were still fantastic teams and seasons.

No salty bitterness for me except for one of those three games, but that’s a different kind of discussion.

So give the Rams a win instead of a loss in one of those three games…which one has the most important impact in the long term scope of the history of the franchise?

I would say Super Bowl XIV would have changed Rams history. It would have validated all those great Rams teams which won 7 NFC West titles in a row. It also wouldn't have given the freakin' Raiders the chance to win the first Super Bowl in LA.

The Rams were SO GOOD that year. 2 Superbowls for the GSOT would have been deserving and cements that team as one of the best all time.

The 79 loss for me.

My Grandmother made me go to a special church thing during most of that game. It was just a normal church service held at a later time... nothing special about it at all.

I had just gone to the NFC Championship game and watched us win against Tampon. My Grandad surprised me with that. I was so ready to watch the Super Bowl.... but NO... Grandmom made us go to church!

The preacher's wife felt so bad for me that she was running back and forth from the church to her house and updating me in the score. We were freaking winning! I was so mad it was unbelievable.

We got home in time for me to see us lose. I swore that day to my Grandmother that when I was old enough to decide for myself I would never go to church again! I really did that.

And... I kept that promise. I know she is mad about it as she looks down from heaven, but I was even madder missing most of that game.

So I could have been a much holier person if not for that loss. Much much holier!

The loss to the Patriots changed Mike Martz, he was never the same because he didn't trust anyone because of the stunt the Patriots pulled and got away with. Rams should have won that game giving them Two Super Bowls in three years and IMO, it would have been Martz that would have been on of the winningest Head Coaches of all time.

The Pittsburgh loss, no doubt.

In an Era, where the only 2 teams talked about were Dallas and Pittsburgh, that win would have changed the montra.

I changed my vote. If the Rams hang on vs Pittsburgh it’s the biggest upset in SB history…

which means that the Patriots beating the Rams in the 2001 Homeland Security Bowl is no longer the biggest upset in SB history.

For the reasons all have already given.

I remember crying after losing the Super Bowl to the Cheatriots. The fact that they lost and ruined the GSOT's dynasty was bad enough, but when I heard that they cheated to win pissed me off something absolute fierce.

Rams vs. the Dynasty
The Rams lost a few fans with the move to Anaheim. The exploding bandwagon after a Championship would've more than made up for it. Plus, the Rams as a Championship team would've had an easier time greasing some political wheels in Anaheim (with resepect to some development in the 80's). There's a small chance what happened 15 years later, would've been different.

Oh, add in the Vince Ferragamo movie too.
