So in a strange way, it turns out we swapped GZ for Forbath.

Dallas Cowboys
On December 9, 2019,
Forbath was signed by the Dallas Cowboys after the team released Brett Maher. He helped to stabilize the placekicker position and didn't miss a kick for the rest of the season, making 10-of-10 field goals and 10-of-10 extra points.

On March 24, 2020, Forbath re-signed with the Cowboys. He was released on August 1, 2020, without having a chance to compete for the kicking job against Greg Zuerlein.

Los Angeles Rams
On October 20, 2020,
Forbath was signed by the Los Angeles Rams off the Bears practice squad.

If this shit show was our ST coach’s doing then he needs to be water boarded 6-7 times. What an absolute shit show and joke.

Lirim? Sloman? Forbath? Wtf are these guys thinking when an UDFA like Blankenship out there for the cheap?

Smh.

Fucking dudes lighting it up.

Refuse to believe it could be Sneads team sucking ass more than our shitty ST coach.

Absolutely amazes me that anybody would have the Gaul to try and support that shit show that was unfolding. Completely laughable.

Irrelevant, a bad kicker is bad on a good or a bad team. Even back then on a bad team all of us wanted to win every game and a kicker blowing potential wins on a bad team may have been even worse.
You can't afford to develop a young kicker on this team.

How would your vets like Ramsey, Donald, Goff, Woods, etc... feel about busting their asses and then dealing with a erratic rookie kicker costing them games? A lot of tough opponents coming up and likely close gms. A missed kick in Seattle last yr cost us a playoff spot. Can't do that again.

Last week against the 9er's I'm thinking the same thing when we scored to make 14-6 and then miss the extra point. The team had to feel let down.

What alternative did they have? Every successful kicker in the league was a “developIng young kicker” at some point. And like you said, the “veteran” kicker missed a game winner last year.

They gave it a shot... He didn't work out and it would be criminal to keep putting him out there especially because his issue is he keeps getting them blocked.

That is a double whammy. One will eventually go back for a td.

He has to fix the low trajectory or he has no shot of kicking. Plus his kickoffs sucked. In other words he was not a plus anywhere.

I dont disagree that it was time to make the change, I just dont agree with the assertion that the Rams couldnt develop a young kicker. It was time to move on from Z, and they gave the kid a shot. Didnt pan out, they move on. I think as Rams fans, we have been spoiled by the kickers we've had. We had only 3 kickers over a 22 year span, its not uncommon for a team to have that many in a season! Off the top of my head, Miami, New England, NY Giants/Jets and Chargers had been having a real bad time of it and all have seem to have stabilized. It happens, the Rams just havent had to wade in that pool for a long time

It wasn't like he just suddenly got erratic. He was the worst of the 3 kickers in camp by a large margin. Also, like I've been saying, low kicks aren't quite the same as missing wide. Missing wide normally is inconsistent plant foot placement and inconsistent ball strike, both things that can be corrected during the season. It's also why even good kickers miss occasionally. But consistently low kicks indicate multiple problems and is not a quick fix. Even at least one of his made FGs was low, added to the 3 low kicks he missed or were blocked.

This is just another example of how rookie college history simply doesn't translate to the NFL for the majority of kickers. The fact they kept him so long shows me that the "fix was indeed in". The fact they re-signed MacGinnis shows me he clearly won that competition. I think the difference between Lirim and Mac is their age.

I think Forbath will be fine as will MacGinnis.

Glad he didn’t end up costing us any games. Excited to see Forbath.

I know it's not the same as missing a game winner, but we lost to the Bills by 3. Sloman had a missed 53 yarder in the first quarter. GZ probably makes that kick.

Still posting in here? And people say @Memento and @dieterbrock and I were the ones hung up on him.

Moving on and out of this thread after the 2 I tagged laugh at me.

I'm not gonna laugh. I supported Sloman because he was a Ram, because he was a rookie, and because I wanted him to have a fair shot. He had his shot, we released him, and what's done is done. I wish him well, unless he's facing us. Other than that, I honestly couldn't give less of a fuck.

Legatron as a rookie was worse than what we've seen from Sloman so far. Then GZ rebounded before having 2 years worse than his rookie season.
Um no he made his first 13. That's not at all true.
