I am sure there is a very good reason for the change but I have to admit I don't understand it and I am really disappointed that it isn't still in April!
 
It's because of a booking conflict at Radio City MH, Easter week maybe?
The league wants to stretch out the important money making off-season events as well. Not like they couldn't book another venue...
 
Because the NFL wants a major "event" in each month.

Translation...the profit is greater to move the draft to May.

They were concerned because it always falls on my anniversary weekend. Finally they had enough of the guilt they were feeling and changed the date.

That's what I recall hearing. They want the NFL in the news regularly.
 
Yeah. They wanted a major event in each month and one reason, its to keep football relevant even during the offseason. I don't like it all that much because I want the draft as soon as possible.. but I suppose I don't mind having the draft in may instead of nothing.
 
OK, on this major event every month thing, here's what I've got:

January: Playoffs/Super Bowl
February: Combine
March: Free Agency Starts
April: ???
May: Draft
June: Training Camp Starts
July: ???
August: Preseason Starts
September-December: Regular Season

Am I missing anything?
 
OTAs in April and June...training camp starts in July

Clearly you left out April 25th. Obviously you are missing something. My wedding anniversary. Just sayin' I was at a restaurant and @-X- and I were texting back and forth. My bride is very cool but still it is obvious the NFL saw my conflict. Good on them.
