That's pretty true, so personally I hope it sorts out that we get the Falcons at home first, and then go to Vikings, because of the dome. I know Nick Foles is gonna suck sooner or later but do we want to play in 10 degree weather in Philly?

I'd rather play in the cold in Philly than play Minnesota if I have the choice. Foles isn't Wentz. We put up 35 points on that defense but lost partially due to our own errors and partially due to Wentz being absolutely amazing for much of that game.

I won't post the meme again, but YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME.

Taking the foot off the gas can get players hurt AND ruin the momentum.

We've seen a number of teams lose after a bye week or a week after resting starters because they took off the Big Mo jersey.

I just want us to button it up and stay in our winning groove. I want us to keep the momentum jersey on until McVay hoists the Lombardi.

NFC playoff picture: Eagles clinch home-field advantage

The Eagles have clinched home-field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs and have nothing to play for in Week 17. Six other NFC teams are still jockeying for position, with four already in the playoffs and two competing for the final postseason berth.

Here’s how the playoff picture looks with one week remaining in the regular season:

LEADERS

1. Eagles (13-2): It wasn’t pretty on Monday night, but they got the job done.

2. Vikings (12-3): Clinch a first-round bye with a win, or with losses by the Panthers and Saints.

3. Rams (11-4): With the NFC West clinched and no chance at a first-round bye, the Rams don’t have much to play for in Week 17.

4. Saints (11-4): Clinch the NFC South with a win or a Panthers loss.

5. Panthers (11-4):: Clinch the NFC South with a win and a Saints loss. Would also clinch a first-round bye with a win, a Saints loss, a Vikings loss and a Rams loss.

6. Falcons (9-6): Clinch a playoff berth with a win or a Seahawks loss.

OUTSIDE LOOKING IN

7. Seahawks (9-6): Clinch a playoff berth with a win and a Falcons loss.

AFC playoff picture: No. 1 seed, Wild Cards unsettled in Week 17

There’s one regular season game left for all of the AFC’s teams and we still don’t know which six will continue playing beyond next Sunday.

The Wild Card spots will be doled out based on the results of games involving the Ravens, Titans, Bills and Chargers, which will make for plenty of intrigue when the 4:25 p.m. ET games kick off in Week 17. The other big question left unsettled after Christmas weekend is who will be the top seed in the conference.

Monday’s easy Steelers win means that they can still wind up in the No. 1 spot, although the Patriots can end those hopes with a win at Gillette Stadium.

LEADERS

1. Patriots (12-3): Beat the Jets and they won’t leave New England unless they’re going to the Super Bowl.

2. Steelers (12-3): Monday’s win clinched a first-round bye and more time for wide receiver Antonio Brown to recover.

3. Jaguars (10-5): Pittsburgh’s win ended any hopes of a bye in Jacksonville.

4. Chiefs (9-6): They are locked into the No. 4 seed, which has some wondering if Patrick Mahomes might play.

5. Ravens (9-6): There are other paths to the playoffs, but the easiest is beating the Bengals.

6. Titans (8-7): A three-game losing streak hasn’t knocked them out of playoff contention, but a fourth would likely finish the job.

OUTSIDE LOOKING IN

7. Chargers (8-7): Beating the Raiders is the first part of their path to the playoffs, the Titans losing is the second part and either a Ravens win or a Bills loss would extend the Chargers season.

8. Bills (8-7): They can get in with a win and losses by the teams in front of them because they lose all tiebreakers, including a head-to-head with the Chargers thanks to their regular season loss fueled by five Nathan Peterman interceptions.

By Robert Mays

Who’s in the mix for the NFC’s second wild-card spot?

The Falcons and Seahawks are the only teams left in the race for the sixth and final NFC playoff spot. Carolina’s closer-than-expected 22–19 win over a feisty Buccaneers team earned the Panthers a postseason bid, while bad losses by both Dallas (21–12 to Seattle) and Detroit (26–17 to Cincinnati) ensured that those teams will watch wild-card weekend from the comfort of their own homes.

As it turns out, maybe Ezekiel Elliott’s six-game suspension wasn’t the lone reason for the Cowboys’ offensive struggles this season. The running back returned to the field this week, and Dallas mustered only 12 points, allowed four sacks, and turned the ball over three times against a defense that was recently embarrassed by the Rams.

The Cowboys missed left tackle Tyron Smith (who exited during the opening series after reaggravating his knee injury), and Dez Bryant had about as bad a day as an NFL receiver can have. Bryant caught half of his six targets, coughed up a fumble late in the second quarter that led directly to a Seahawks touchdown, and tipped a pass that became an interception. The Cowboys have plenty of questions to address in the offseason, and Bryant’s future role in the offense is among them.

For the Falcons, the path to a playoff berth is simple: Beat Carolina next Sunday and they’re in. The Panthers still have plenty to play for in Week 17 with an NFC South title and a home game in the wild-card round at stake if the Saints lose to Tampa Bay.

Still, this is a matchup that Atlanta can win. It’ll take place in Mercedes-Benz Stadium, the Panthers’ passing game looked erratic once again against the Bucs, and the Falcons’ paltry showing against the Saints was fueled at least in part by a pair of fluky and ill-timed turnovers.

If the Panthers do knock off the Falcons, though, a Seahawks win over the Cardinals in Week 17 would send Seattle into the playoffs. In some ways, its showing in Dallas is the recipe for it to piece together a playoff upset. With a great game plan constructed around well-timed blitzes, the Seahawks pestered Dak Prescott and created enough turnovers to be successful despite gaining only 136 yards of offense.

An Atlanta group featuring Julio Jones and a wave of game-changing defensive playmakers is the more dangerous of the two possible NFC postseason options, but Seattle could keep the rest of the NFC up at night given the respect it has accrued — and the potential for Russell Wilson sorcery.

What could Week 17 mean for the NFC’s wild-card matchups?

As mentioned earlier, there’s a good chance that Minnesota will end up with the NFC’s no. 2 seed and Carolina will get the no. 5 seed based on the matchups and stakes in play during Week 17. Assuming that happens, there’s still plenty to be decided in the final week of the regular season, and that goes beyond the uncertainty surrounding the second wild-card spot. The Rams host the suddenly formidable 49ers on Sunday, while the Saints take on the Bucs in Tampa. If Los Angeles loses, it could create some fascinating wild-card pairings.

If the Niners beat the Rams, a Falcons win or Seahawks loss would mean that Atlanta would travel to the Superdome to face the Saints for the third time this season. Lucking into a rivalry clash on wild-card weekend is the sort of bonus we all deserve after enduring a brutal 2017 campaign.

The more plausible outcome, though, is the Saints facing another NFC South opponent (Carolina) as the no. 4 seed after New Orleans takes down Tampa Bay and the Rams defeat San Francisco. In that event, the Falcons would play the Rams in the first round — unless Atlanta loses to the Panthers and Seattle travels to face the Rams three weeks after getting embarrassed by L.A. in Week 15. I, for one, am here for the intradivisional playoff intrigue.

At this point, there’s probably an argument to be made that the no. 4 seed in the NFC is more appealing than the no. 3 seed, and that mainly has to do with the divisional round. If both higher seeds in the NFC win in the first round, the no. 4 seed would travel to Philadelphia while the no. 3 would go to Minnesota.

Given the way the Eagles have played of late, a trip to take on Foles and friends doesn’t sound nearly as daunting as facing the Vikings in a venue where they’ve lost once all year.

Haven’t read the rest of the thread just realized that theres a real possibility that the NFC can have 5 teams with 12-4 or better records in the playoffs this year. Has that ever happened before in NFL history? I’ve never seen a conference so loaded before, just wished all the teams were healthy to see who truly would be the best

I'm hoping the sea pigeons win and the falcons lose. Then assuming the Rams beat the whiners, we host the sea pigeons in the wild card round and new orleans will have to take on a 12-4 wild card panthers team.

Chances are the Falcons will lose and the Seahawks will get in. Falcons' play are folding like cheap lawn chairs. They are pressing and play too nervous, and the when crunch time comes, the Falcons choke.

I'd love to see the Seahawks again in the wild card game. Great to see Russell Wilson get crushed over and over and over again by Aaron Donald, Michael Brockers, Robert Quinn, et al.

We need to win and have the Falcons lose and the Shegulls win. I would love to wreck the freak out of them another time at home, in the playoffs, where they are already doubting themselves against us, and it be the catalyst of a total collapse of the organization.

That would be awesome for sure.
But get ready for a horrible feeling in your stomach as you keep reading.

Can you IMAGINE the sorrow we'd all feel if somehow those A-holes (Sea-holes) came into our stadium and made us a "one and done" playoff team in our first playoff game in 13 years? I couldn't survive it. If we end up losing any games on our quest for the super bowl, it cannot cannot cannot be to the SeaHoles. We would never bounce back from that.

I don't want to play them in the playoffs. Wussel will get lucky again.
