I think trying to get that W against the whiners in that final game of the season is an empty gesture. If we do that with very little return in the seedings (moving from any seed to other-than-top-seed), we are risking player injury and might turn around and get the 9ers again anyway. If the top seed is in play then sure go balls out. But I doubt that top seed will be in play for us.

Also I wouldn't go so far as to try to maneuver my seed in order to avoid the 9ers. We're gonna have to beat those fucks most likely and doing that sends the wrong message. McVay has always been about protecting his players, which I think is the correct approach in this situation.

Now I do get the idea of a team going cold with the rest but honestly look at this roster. There are so many vet guys who are hungry for that ring. If this team can't get up for a playoff game then they need to know that so they can blow it up and start over.

The test will come with time. I don’t think Mcvay or The Rams are afraid & want an out though.
Mcvay will do what he thinks is the best for the players & the team.Time will tell. This is a new playoff format.

Will it be wrong teams to tank the last couple games ? The Rams have proven they have depth & each player is valuable in there own way.
I just go back to The Rams playing the SeaHags back to back basically?
Arizona was in there as well .

The way the playoff field looks right now I don't know that the 9ers will care to risk players in that final game either. At this point my expectation is that both teams rest key starters and it's a wash.

Chances are the 9ers will be the 6th seed. They probably don't have a chance to catch the 5th anyway. And the difference between playing the 2nd or 3rd seed (them being the 6th or 7th seed) is minimal tbh. There's a good chance all the good players are out of that game IMO.

According to the PLAYOFF MACHINE if the Aints and Iggles win out, the Whiners are out.

If the Cardinals beat the Cowgirls, the Cowgirls last game would be meaningless to their seeding. Maybe they’ll want to rest starters against the Iggles?

I would rather the whiners not make it, just because of who they are, but I’m not worried about beating them. We got this.

I want that 2 seed, and the 2 or 3 home playoff games that comes with it.

Just a guess, but I think McVay felt burned by his decision to rest key starters in the season finale against SF in 2017. Rams lost that game and then came out really flat in first half the following week, in the playoff loss to ATL.

McVay seems to be kinda buddy-buddy with the (Evil Emperor) Belicheat, who says he believes in the importance of keeping winning momentum headed into the playoffs.

So my prediction is that McVay does the opposite of 2017 and plays all starters and goes all-out to win vs SF, regardless of seeding implications.

IMHO there are a ton of permutations left, Rams could easily be the 2,3, 4, or 5 seed, so really hard to predict who the heck Rams will play in playoffs.

69ers are going to run run run the ball to win out. Stop their run game and it’s over. For the Rams that means they need to tackle well and keep Samuel in check.

With Cousins now out with CoVid, any hope of the Rams or Cowboys catching Green Bay are all but gone.

The Packers should beat the Vikings, without Cook and Cousins, easily.

The 2 seed is important because if the ass packers happen to get upset, the Rams have homefield advantage, provided we win our playoff game.

Feels like we may draw New Orleans - that is if we win v 9ers, NO beats ATL, and the Cowboys beat the Eagles.

So if the saints beat the Falcons, we can eliminate the 9ers by beating them.

OMFG that would be awesome to, in one game:

1) Clinch the NFC West
2) Eliminate the communist, Satan-worshipping, buffalo-dick sucking (one herd at a time) 49ers; and
3) Clinch the #2 seed.

If we lose to the Niners we are playing at Dallas.

IF we beat the Niners we could get Niners, Eagles or Saints.

The most likely case is we host a game vs the Saints.

We could lose to the 9ers and then host them as the 3 seed

Or we could lose to them and host the Cardinals as the 4 seed

But I agree - most likely - we will get NO at home as the 2

What is the scenario for us to beat SF and play them again? Atlanta beating NO? Is that all it would take?

If Atlanta beats New Orleans and Dallas beats Philadelphia in the early window, the 49ers would be locked in the #6 seed and arguably have no reason to risk it’s starters against the Rams.
