Just spit balling. I was pointing out options for additional cap savings. I want the Rams to continue pursuing the perfect beast. I wouldn’t cut Shelton unless we picked up another OC FA like Tyler Linderbaum. And I wouldn’t cut Evans unless the new special teams coach feels that’s part of the overhaul for special teams. I’m not sure Evans is worth his $3.8 million price tag. Not sure either is likely

Shelton is tied to Stafford somehow. If Stafford’s returning then he’s likely returning as well. I would like the Rams to pick up a true center in the draft. As for Evans he has had some really good games and some really big gaffes as well. I’d like to see more consistency and the Rams should definitely bring in someone to compete at camp. The Hags punter shut down any chance of returns for the Rams with his hang time and apparently broke Xavier Smith in the process.

Jimminy Christmas our special teams as a whole was bad. Let’s not create more holes than needed. He’s a good punter, let him get a good coach

I think it's pretty obvious what players are going to be handed their hats. But more importantly (IMO) the below is the important need.

Since the Rams are an offensive minded team this is the need:

1. Ink Stafford a 2-year deal ($110 mil)
2. Ink Nacua a 4 year ($140 mil).... maybe we can convince Nacua to take less but the way the Rams handled Kupp's situation, I'm sure Nacua will ask for $$$$$$$$$$$.
3. Find a short yardage full back (230-240 lbs) with good hands.
4. In the draft: Get a stud WR.
5. In the draft: A bigger center.
6. Re-sign Garoppolo for two years ($30-35 mil guaranteed). We got to have an experienced back up just in case.

I thought maybe go all in on Defense, but if the offense had been better at putting teams away and also more reliable on 3rd and 4th down short yardage situations, we would be preparing for Super Bowl Sunday.

I saw your expression Jiminy Christmas and I thought to myself isn't the expression Jiminy Crickets so I googled them and they both are used the same way and had the same meaning lol

Tell the truth now. You're lobbying to be Jimmy Garoppolo's new agent ... aren't you.

According to OTC and Spotrac, Garoppolo's combined earnings in his two years with the Rams was $7.5M.

I know you're NOT getting a job to work in the Rams' Front Office to help manage their Salary Cap.

Well.... we can be like the Colts if Stafford (our 38 year old QB) has a season or career ending injury.

You’re fired!

Seriously, you need a wellness check after that comment

Then I guess the Rams go with Stetson if Stafford goes down..... Hopefully you have a PPO for when your elevated blood pressure splits a main artery watching Stetson run around the field throwing incompletion after incompletion.

In todays NFL a solid back up QB is a necessity.... Well unless a Super Bowl is not the goal.

Spotrac has Garoppolo's market value at 2.3 mil. I'm sure it will take more than that but I'd definitely want to keep him as Stafford's backup. I'm in the 80-85 percent sure range Stafford will play another year. Unfinished business. If he won another Superbowl then I think he woulda walked out on top. Rams have the roster to compete and the resources to improves areas that need improving. He knows that.

I usually miss what you're trying to get at....
I often have the same issue with myself.

We All agree that backup QB is very important.
Most of us think Garoppolo is an ideal backup for the Rams.
Most of us think your $30-35M guaranteed is unrealistic for the Rams.
A couple of us (OK … me) think you would make a lousy GM.

That would be a great deal, but Gorppolo is gonna get more than $2mil.... C'mon we're paying Forbes $4 mil... lol

$30-$35 million on Garappolo and a fullback that wouldn't get used in McVay's offense. You really nailed the needs of this offense.

Curl is a keeper. The secondary has solid Safeties in my book Lake, Kinchens, Curl, and McCollough. No need to tamper with them.

Among the CBs, I would keep Forbes, Durant, Spoon, and build from there.
Yeah Curl is good but it'll depend on the price I think. I don't think we'll pay two safeties. As for the secondary, if those guys are depth I can agree. I just don't think they're very good though. Maybe Forbes.

McVay threw Ferguson out there and half the time when he was on the field he looked confused and out of position.

I believe a FB would be a great addition to the Rams short yardage woes. Hell if you can throw Ronnie Rivers out there, certainly a tough as nails FB with good hands couldn't do any worse.

And do we really know what McVay is going to do on offense.... Sometimes it looks like he doesn't know what he wants to do.

At some point Garoppolo might be the Rams starting QB, so it might be a good idea to lock him in for a couple of years to back up Stafford. Ya maybe $15 mil might be a high price, but lets go out and get a 44 year old QB to fill in for an injured Stafford and watch the season go down the drain.

Was this your first year watching the Rams?
McVay doesnt use a FB. He did draft one once, didnt make it past TC
McVay will utilize a big WR as an Hback, like Skowroneck was, and how he tried Whittington a bit last year. That's the extent of it, much to the chagrin of many a poster

Are you aware that Garoppolo was injured prior to the NFC championship game? Without playing a single down? Yeah, that's your iron man for you
And you keep using the Colts as an example of not having a backup QB. Are you aware that not only was Jones injured, so was his back up and the 3rd stringer? And that was why they ended up with a 44 year old?
Good grief
Oh and btw, Stafford has a contract for 2026 already

Never said he was an iron man. And he was dealing with a tweaked back BFD:eyeroll: .... You make it sound like he was out for the season.

And are you saying McVay is too primal for change? I disagree..... If McVay was willing to field one of the shittiest ST's group in the NFL, I don't see a reason why he wouldn't try adding an additional scheme to the offense.

Or we can continue to be unreliable on 3rd and 4th down short yardage situations...
