If traded before the 3/16 roster bonus he becomes pretty much an 8m rental for a team. They can dump him after 2018 without any cap penalty. Makes him pretty tradeable actually.

Problem is every team out there knows the Rams aren't keeping him which decreases his market vaule. All depends if some team figures that one year and out if he doesn't work out is a safe bet and wants to dangle a late pick to secure it.

If we didn't see Tavon have a year under McVay, I'd say sure. But the fact that a guy like McVay couldn't use Tavon says a lot to me.

The fact that Tavon scored 10 on a Jeff Fisher offense says plenty too though.
That his wrist injury completely derailed his season with McVay was unfortunate for him.

fair statement, but I think McVay wanted to develop his vision and that Tavon was never a part of it. All those positive comments we heard from the Rams last year regarding Tavon and his role were simply sugar coated locker room coach speak. And it worked.

Now dont get me wrong, I jumped off the love fest a year before most. We crippled our team by trying to force our offense through him, and I stood tall making the assertations before it became obvious. Fact is, Jeff bet his career on the guy and lost.

I'm just saying in a wierd reality twist, I'd get a chuckle out of it if Tavon went elswhere and became what we thought he could be.

That year he scored basically once every 10 touches which is sort of amazing.
He can make plays no doubt. But things have to be just so.

Once again he DID use Tavon, not the way we would all like to see, meaning lots of yards and some TD's. But the Jet Sweep play helped win games by allowing Gurley to run free in many instances.

I wish we had seen better production but I can't slam a guy who gave up much his own production to help the team have the #1 overall offense.

If this team loses Watkins and Austin both they better have a solid backup plan in place or the Rams will drop off a bit.

Some of the plan it seems is to put more of the resources into the defense, so that there are more stops and turnovers. I expect the run defense when all is said and done to be much better.

McVay I think always intended this to be an offense with much more production from TEs. Expect more of that in 2018.

Couldn't agree more Les. Rams will lose s signifigant part of their offense if they lose both Watkins and Austin.

I agree and just because I was curious I went and looked at what type of production he got out of that position in WASH for his 3 years there.

Typically it was 1000-1200 yards and while he had his first year low of 2 TD's the next two years saw 8 and 12 if I counted correctly.

Once he had his system plugged in they were really spreading it around..........all kind of players were getting in on the action.

TA didn’t really do anything last year, that ghost motion is only going to continue to work if the threat is real, Cooper has the speed to get the corner. He might not make 3 people miss but he’s also not going to spend too much time juking in the backfield. He also runs with more power than TA.
I don’t see what the Steelers get out of this though, they have a hard enough time keeping their other receivers happy. Maybe they don’t want AB returning kicks anymore, which makes sense but he is really good at it. The Steelers receivers group is better than the rams with AB, Juju, Martavius and Jesse James so there’s probably not many receptions to be had so what would his role be?

I have often say that Cooper is more than an adequate replacement for Austin. Oh, you like my new avatar need something to replace Quinn.

Yes, I agree that Cooper likely isn't going to be a factor offense, but your statement is a bit broad and sweeping here.
