I've got the call once from the "IRS", threatening to issue a warrant and that they'd be at my house in 1/2 hour. Did scare me at first, until I caught on.

Anyone remember AT&T "Reach Out and Touch Someone"? Around then, they seemed to call me about 10 times a week. I couldn't stand it. Eventually, I just starting saying, "Oh yeah, AT&T? Why don't you reach out and touch yourself!" Then, I'd hang up!

I cant believe any one falls for these phone scams.
On a bright note, today is my lucky day!!
I just got an email, apparently I have a long lost relative in Africa who has left me millions of dollars!!
All I had to do was give my bank info so they know where to wire the funds!! I'm so pumped!!

Yeah I have gotten the “you have 4 violations” voicemail at least once a week for probably a year now. You block the number and they just use a different one. It’s so freaking annoying. They are usually from New York according to caller ID. I get about 2 or 3 random other calls every day on my cell that I don’t answer. You know they are robocalls because they tend to use the same area code that your phone number was originally associated with. They are usually hijacked numbers too. So if you try and call the number back you’ll get some poor bastard who didn’t actually call you and knows nothing. The phone companies could do something about it but they don’t want to spend the money.

I think I might finally download one of those filtering apps.

That happened to me!!!

I was in my driveway and this woman called me all angry asking why I was calling her and threatening her. She was really upset.

Since I knew the scam, I explained it to her. She understood, but was still super upset when I hung up.

Now, if I get a call from my original area code, used to live in West LA, now live in Florida, I don't answer it.

Anyone I know from that area code will show up as a name, not a number.

And the numbers don't have to be hijacked. They simply spoof the number and their CallerID is none the wiser.

Yeah, spoof is a better word for it and not hijack. Couldn't quite find the right word for it.

I got lucky that the area code I received when I got my first cellphone 10+ years ago was for a town about an hour west of where I actually live and I know zero people there so I never have to wonder if I should answer it at least. Still obnoxious though.

I had an Indian guy call me yesterday to tell me my computer had a problem. I said, "it's 2018, and you're still trying the computer scam?" Lol

Probably the same Indian guy that threatened me. "I going to call you and call you and call you and never stop calling you."(exact phrasing). Holding the phone into the toilet and flushing while he was making his pitch must have been what set him off. A few days later I bought a nice voice mail contraption.

I got a weird one today wanting to Facetime. I've never got that one before. I so wanted to answer just to mess with them but wasn't sure what I might have been getting into. Anybody got one of those yet?
