I had a “fan” accuse me of being a bandwagon Ram fan in 99 because I was wearing a Rams jacket signed by a Carolina Panther and a Steeler......
Sean Gilbert and Jerome Bettis......
I invited him to violate himself.

My favorite ever reply was to a fan on a message board (The Herd) when I said to him "I was a Rams fan when you were still swimming in your daddy's nuts."

It got deleted even though I thought it was some of my finest work.

So I always wondered this about the chains. Why do they have/use them? Am I the only one who see's how not accurate they are? When they bring them out to measure they are eye balling the placement of the 1st chain right?

Well, that's kind of because they've been caught cheating. Yes they have those two spawn of Satan, but they also have been skirting over the lines of fair play for decades. Maybe everyone does it, but not everyone does it as well as they do. It's okay to take up the mantle for them, if that's what you wanna do, but you'll be unsuccessful if you try to convince people that they should be the model of excellence going forward. There are too many stains that can't be washed away.

I don't by this line of thinking. Every team doesn't cheat. Do you think McVay is concerned with Cheating? Maybe a few coaches sprinkled through the years were the type to cheat, but I think most just want to get their team ready to play each week.

I don't care that people say every team does it.

The Patriots cheated and got caught and they did it again and got caught.

They are fricking cheaters and I hate them for it.

Will never go easy on them ever because of that.

And I hate Goodell for going easy on them.

They should have lost their superbowl win just like USC lost their championship.

Everyone whines when the Patriots beat their team and calls "cheater" on them.

Fans are odd about them. Everyone hates them outside of NE and just has a hard time admitting that they have Brady and Belichick and that's a BIG advantage. Once they are gone we won't hear a peep about them cheating, it'll be someone else.

Manning deflated footballs and nobody cared. Brady did it and it was discussed forever.
For sure, but those other teams are myopic with how they cheat, and it’s not always cheating.

Bellichick just takes it to a whole new level. Like earlier he was bragging about eating extra time from the clock with delay of game penalties being declined.

He wasn’t bragging about cheating, he was bragging on his own intelligence, noting that he studied the other coach’s tendencies so well that he knew he could get the result he wanted at that point in the game.

Then you have the Cowboys game. It really wasn’t cheating, rather it was an existing rule that isn’t called much. He isn’t measuring just a teams tendency to commit a penalty so much as the officials reaction to it, so the ones he can control through coaching players is what we expect from the word coach. It’s when he controls other variables outside of instruction to players that throws us.

So it’s a combination of factors, controlling variables in ways that are against rules which other teams do as well and finding coachable players to execute.

I’ve always thought that the best way to beat Bellichick was to have another coach feed you plays all game. If there is a myopic aspect of his coaching, it’s how well he studies you.

It doesn’t help our perception that he is a sociopath, but he in’t really doing anything that other coaches haven’t already done, like stealing a playbook vs spy gate. He’s just so broad with every aspect because I think he is bored with the details of play design and strategy.

Bruce added that the Patriots signed Terrell Buckley a few weeks before the Super Bowl, which he believes was a questionable move at the time, too.
“He was beating us to spots! He was beating us to spots, and he hadn’t been there that long, and he was on the street, so, you know, the reason he was on the street, but he came in, and he was beating us to spots, and he was making plays that game, so, something was going on,” Bruce said.

i had never heard this ... had to look it up ... I.Bruce was incorrect... Buckley even intercepted Warner in the 2001 regular season game... Maybe another player?

If I remember right I think they released Buckley and picked him back up either before the AFC Championship game or SB.
